does the liverpool stock breaking system still work? as typhoon could use it.
Nope, although a single pipe air brake system compatible with the rest of the stock is in the planning.

Actually it probably would work, I have vac'd down our liverpools a few years ago when we had Prince William. The problem comes with the lack of rods and brake gear on the bogies!

Thats what i meant, they dont have any vac cylinders, or any brake gear or anything left, like i said a new system is been installed.

Erm, have a look under the centre seat Tom. Vac cylinders and linkage is there, trust me! Which is exactly what I meant!

well we have no turntables, so that isnt a problem for us. Also, all of the head shunts have been designed to take a romney pacific, as we have had our fingers crossed for such a visit for some time now.
Does that include Romney pacifics with the new larger tenders?

Ben,
I doubt the new tenders are any bigger than the old large tenders at Romney, like the one Hurricaine and Typhoon carry, but I'm sure Tim will confirm. That would give the maximum length of 30' I put above when coupled to a mountain class.

Not sure of the measurements, but i don't think the new tenders (Samson and soon to be Herclules) are as long as the Ashford tenders (Typhoon & Goddess).

The longest possible combination is a Mountain with Hurricanes tender, which i discovered in 2007 with Samson when i found out that it only just fits on the turntable at New Romney

Going by the stated overall length of Typhoon (from RHDR website) of 27ft 7, we measured the headshunts today, Kingsway being 30ft, and NSL being 28ft 8, so all being well she'll fit. If not its just a case of keeping Dai ready for shunt release workings.

Well either way, the vac stuff isnt going back on. No point spending ages rigging it all up for a few weekends when nothing else on the railway has vac brakes.
