Joe's website shows a large american outline loco:

http://www.joenemethengineeringltd.co.uk/about_us.htm

And says that it was rebuilt for Mr Hall-Craggs. Does the loco still exist in a similar form, or is it now unrecognisable?

Tim,

That body looks like like a Hunt US diesel one to me, maybe it was part built by his Dad. There are not many original Hunt locos around now, though one is still in the shed, at the for sale Weymouth Bay MR.

This must be the Alan Keef rebuild in 1988, which used the bogies from an ex Severn Beach MR loco, which must be this one. Now a 9.25" 4w-4wDH still at John Hall Craggs, not the same body.

Thanks
Peter

How very interesting. I've seen the Keef (there's also a pic in the new Keef book...) and it's very different looking.

Does anyone have a pic of the one at Weymouth? I'm not sure that it's included in the sale of the railway - it wasn't mentioned on the ebay listing....

Yep, that's the one! Reading the text in AKs book, it sounds as though the rest of the loco was not up to the quality he wanted, so it was presumably scrapped.

I have two pictures of the Hunt loco at Weymouth, which I'll email you Tim, and if I get permission, will post them on here. In the Miniature Railway Mag Advert for Weymouth, the Hunt loco was included in sale, so not sure why it's not listed on Ebay - incidentally the lines not for sale anymore, so it may have been sold.
