Nick,

I believe Cuckoo Hill only runs during the Fruit picking season.

Plowman's told me yesterday they are running Good Friday - Easter Monday, not sure after that as I was only interested in the Easter period. They certainly ran at weekends before Xmas. Try 01202 582169.

Hope that helps.

I rang the railway today and the gentlemen who answered said he used to be the contact! he did add that he thought the line would run this weekend.

I rang them today and was given the same info as you regarding Easter w/end ... but the lady I spoke to wasn't able to give any info regarding the weekdays.

Thanks for the responses so far.

Mixed day today ... weather and fortunes :( Glorious weather and a pleasure to visit Mangapps Railway Museum in the late morning followed by overcast, turning to rain at the Wat Tyler Miniature Railway in the afternoon ... and my film of the lengthy ride from Grand Central to Marina corrupted :(

Nick,

Sounds like an excellent trip! Some interesting shots above, is the loco at Basildon a new Mardyke loco? I thought they had plans for a Deltic!

Interesting to see Belton have two identical locos as well.

Thanks and looking forward to the other reports

Quite a few changes to the itinerary today!

Started the day at Swanley New Barn Railway

Posted Image

Special thanks to Peter and the Lads at SNBR for their great hospitality.

After Swanley we diverted to Bolebroke Castle

Posted Image

Sadly we were a day early as it will be re-opening, after 'work on the track', on Sunday 12th :(

Our next call was the Bentley Miniature Railway

Posted Image

Finally today we sampled 'Black Five' haulage at the Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway

Posted Image

More images will be posted as soon as my 'dongle' permits.

Glorious weather today and great hospitality shown wherever we visited - special thanks though to the members of the South Downs Light Railway who were very welcoming to my wife and I.

I think it's actually 4-4wPM "The Goyle" ex. Knebworth - certainly the name plates match up! Dave Holroyde would be able to tell us more I'm sure....

Gents, certainly 31327 at Wat tyler was once the original THE GOYLE (Does anyone know who built her ?), but how much of the original remains is debateable. I believe she has new engine, frames and body. Cheers, Dave

Does anyone know if Western Courier (St Alban Comet) is still on loan to the Railway?
