The buffer heights of Typhoon and the liverpools were slightly different, meaning they werent able to couple up...

She managed the service very easily today, along my first solo turn on Flyer. If this one fits, they all should... ;)

What a day, Thanks to Chris for once again making us very welcome at Cleethorpes.

Getting to do a couple of trips around the line at the regulator of Typhoon was good enough, and as Steve mentioned she did like to squeal a little, but to get my hands on Sutton Flyer as well, that really made the day, Thanks Tom.

I've got about 100 Raw images to process over the weekend, so should have some pictures online by Monday

Strange that, though thinking about it I'm guessing about 1" out due to the newer ex-romney wheelsets on the bogies rather than the as built 12" dia skip wheels (which all the liverpool coaches were built with). Our liverpools fitted the bug perfectly when she visited, but they are still on the original wheelsets.

Tom - It would all depend on the sideplay on the bogie and rear truck. But fingers crossed. One that would almost certainly fit it Black Prince, they were built for lines with sharper curves. I can think of another line I'd like to see that at midway between me and Cleethorpes......

Thats pretty much the conclusion I came to Craig, the Cleethorpes Liverpools do look to ride a little higher than others.

Today's formation was Longleat/Liverpool/Liverpool/Liverpool/Longleat using bar couplings between loco and stock. The Longleats are almost perfect size, but not as perfect as a Sutton would be! Sadly today's weather was overcast and spitting rain on occasion.....

I did actually mean the pacifics, not a mountain class haha, Black prince is considerably heavier though than the others, and after seeing what owl did to our track im slightly concerned about what that will do! But i'd love to be proved wrong :)
My turn to pilot her tomorow, yay :D

I'm sure you would like it to stay forever and I don't blame you. :lol I was half hoping for a more definitive answer though given the distance I have to travel to get to CCLR :rolleyes :lol

As far as I am aware, it all depends on the loco requirement at Romney, Black Prince has failed due to leaking tubes.

The Romney high season service requires 5 steam & 1 diesel, at the moment this just leaves locos 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 & 9 available. Loco 4 is is also available but wouldn't be able to cope with the trains and timings required.

According to the shed board 9 is only to be used when absolutly necessary, if at all.

I'm hoping something from Romney is at Cleethorpes for the May Gala, as I'm hoping to be its driver

Many thanks chaps. It was the comment in the CCLR events thread that said "hopefully Typhoon" for the May gala that led me ask. I live North of Manchester so the route to the CCLR is straight forward but it is a fair distance and therefore a full day out. I've been in York today and was hoping to combine the two but not entirely surprisingly it didn't work out. However I will hopefully get across for the May gala and if Typhoon is still there that's a bonus. If your driving Tim and accept hellos from MRW members then I will say hello. Likewise Ben, I see you are a driver / guard / many other tasks on CCLR. :)

Cheers
