Hi all

Visited Heath Park today. Found the high level line running diesels, the low level line running steam including a very impressive Mallard and the tram running on it's own as usual. In addition the outdoor model line was running model steam with a children's theme.

Pics Here

Video here

Regards

Bob

Hi Bob -

I'm a volunteer at Heath Park, with the Cardiff Model Engineering Society. Although I wasn't present on the day you visited, I'm really glad that you enjoyed yourself.

Was it your first visit?

Cheers,

Phil.

I was rather expecting to see Roger Sully's A4 in the pics. Doesn't appear to be though!

Nice to see our line at CMES generating some interest! Being a model engineering society, it is usually 'off the rader' for miniature railway enthusiasts, so this is something of a pleasant surprise.

Matt - yes, Rogers A4 is a regular visitor on open days, and can easily pull anything we put behind it. Its scale chime whistle is wonderful, especially accompanied by its distinctive three cylinder shuffle, chattering up the bank around the corner of our site! Look closer in the pictures provided by Huxleypiguk, however...there are at least two studies of 'Mallard' in steam, out on the track.

Dave - from memory, the Bagnall is named "Cookie". I could look into the details you requested etc, however in the name of privacy/courtesy etc I will ask the owner first, before passing both his and the locos details on. Is this ok?

(PS in case he asks, what purpose do you require it for? Presuming for captions of photographs or something...)

Hope that helps! Visitors are of course always welcome at our railway on open days (dates on the website) - its always nice to 'talk railways', imbetween dealing with members of the public! Alternatively (for loco owners), we also hold a series of non-public 'play-days' throughout the year - please do get in touch with the society (or through me) if you fancy popping along, with all the usual caveats (valid boiler certificate etc). Oh, and do come and say hello!

Hmm, just need to get some tram enthusiasts involved in our 18" gauge tramway now...

Right y'are Dave, will do! I'll be touch with you soon via PM, when I can get hold of the owner, to request permission to pass on details etc.

If there are any other Cardiff-affiliated engines that you are interested in, let me know...

All the best,

Phil.
