In those days Black Prince was a thirsty wet steam engine and this was done so that we could get her to do a complete 27mile round trip. Hurricane was OOS at the time I seem to remember so we borrowed the tender and made a special coupling to connect it to BPs own tender. The experiment was a success and a good time was had by all - even if the dual tenders looked a bit of a dogs dinner!

It never ceases to amaze me how much interesting stuff has gone on on the RHDR over the years! :D

I must admit, I do feel that some of the big tenders on the Romney look just a little too large behind the Greenly engines, and I have pondered on how they might look with two smaller tenders, à la 4472. Of course, it would be costlier and less practical, but perhaps if Howey had lived long enough to see Scotsman running with two tenders he might just have been tempted to copy the idea...?
