Can anybody tell me what the minimum radius is for a 10.25" track without ending up with to many problems, I did read it somewhere but cant find it again, I hope someone here has it stored in their head. David |

According to Henry Greenly (page 101, table IX) @5mph with 3/8 elevation = 45 feet. @10mph with 3/4 elevation = 91 feet. @15 mph with 1 1/4" elevation = 130 feet. As you will see it is just not a question of a standard minimum radius. There are many local variables; vehicle wheel base, wheel arrangement, speed, superelevation, clearance, etc. At Kirkby Green we have many tight curves, but the price paid is that we can only run bogie stock and the Pacific has had to have he flange machined off its centre wheel set. Kelvin Thank you for the reply, we will get the tape out at the weekend and have a look, I did get the chance to drive round Kirkby Green on Gavin Motleys type 37 back in February, he then brought it down to us for a trial run, it had the power to pull our stock but it couldn't get up the hill from the bottom station, it was just to light and spun its wheels so unfortunately it went back home with Gavin. We are still looking for a second loco to run along side ours, and also for a guest loco to run on our track in August for the parks 21st birthday, for at least one weekend or more if the owner fancies the idea, if you know any body who is interested please point them in my direction. Thanks again for the info. Dave |

did you try adding ballast to the 37 normally that helps no end allso railconditions may be the cause |

JORDAN ASHLEY LEEDS Trains go into tunnels and come out but locos can go in sheds and never come out | |

We talked to Gavin about adding ballast but the loco was built to scale and there was nowhere to add any at all, if fact we would have been struggling to find somewhere to put the comressor for the braking system, we would have loved to have kept it but it was a no go. |

There is no room in the 37 for ballast, it's very compact. |
