Hi, Ive been chatting to Peter on and off over the last few months regarding the Railway at Oakwood. I visited the park last weekend and managed to take a few snaps for anyone interested. Rather than reduce the sizes I put them on flickr so if you have a poor web connection you can still view, if you have a fast web connection they are available in full resolution. http://www.flickr.com/photos/paulbeesley/sets/72157619147645582/ Cheers Paul |

It's nice to see they still have the former Longleat railcar Lenka. Does it still carry a name or has it remained nameless since leaving Longleat all those years ago. |

What a great set of pictures Paul, it is good to see a 15" gauge theme park line that makes no pretence at all, it is a transport system first and foremost (car park to park for those unaware of the set-up*) and manages using diesel outline diesels most of the time. Good to see the 1984 Liverpool coaches in use too ![]() Can anyone explain the 20-seat Severn Lamb opens? These were definately 16 seaters at Blackpool, Fleetwood, Banff and Flamingoland... Michael, Lenka did carry a painted name at Oakwood many years ago, when painted dark blue. Colin *it tries sooooo hard to be the Alton Towers monorail! Edited by colinpeake, 2 Jun 2009, 08:43 PM.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/paulbeesley/3589014639/in/set-72157619147645582/ DMU flail? Nice to see good loadings at such a little known line, are those ex-liverpool coaches like cclr's and wfr's, or has the design ninja been out again? |

Thanks for the photos Paul, good to see them as it's not a line we hear much about. As Colin said, unusual to see them using the diesel outlines over the Rios, my guessing being they use 'Lindy Lou' the better condition Rio, in the summer only, whereas these provide the all-weather protection. Pretty sure 'Lenka' doesn't carry any nameplate now. As for the SL coaches, strange, maybe they were swapped or built new! As it happened just come across these photos of the line at Fleetwood: http://ukng.fotopic.net/p57729371.html Looks like the sand was taking its toll! Thanks Peter |

Maybe they prefer to use proper engines rather than the Rios'? To be honest, unless its a very level line I would expect them to struggle with the loads due to slipping, our rio can struggle with more than 4 Liverpools. They probably use the rio more with the smaller, lighter SL coaches. As to the 20 seater SL coaches, I would presure those were the standard for 15" gauge, with the 16 seaters being for 10¼. Will have to dig out and see what Blackpool Zoos are. EDIT - Scratch that, there are plenty of lines of 15" with 16 seaters! But nice to see the line for once. Somewhere I really want to visit now!! Cheers everyone thanks for the comments. Oakwood is a lovely park its just a sod of a place to get to. We drove down from just outisde Liverpool and we left at 6am Saturday and didn't get into the park until 10:45 - i was shattered for most of the day. Coming back we left on Sunday afternoon and it took just over 5 hours. Well worth it though Cheers Paul |
