I seem to recall a short large-gauge railway in the SE of England where the ex-Chessington 'Rocket' S/O loco now resides. Apparently it has open days - I'm sure I saw it in an old Heywood Journal (my copies are currently in store). Could someone remind me as to where it is (by PM if it is a private location). Many thanks [Edit, now found, thanks] Edited by Timbo, 5 Jun 2009, 04:31 PM.

The line is at Glendale Forge, Monks Green. Heywood May No62 Spring 2008 has a pic on it (I don't have a scanner else I would scan it up) Highly interesting loco with a BMC diesel in the tender to both tender axles. Craig |

Perchance one of the heywood chaps who made a visit in 08 could post a pic? Think it is open occasionally. Www.glendaleforge.co.uk has contact details. Appears they have one of the SL CP Huntingdons there too according to a Butlin's forum. Not a million miles from London so perhaps I'll get a chance to stretch the wheels when the new car arrives

The railway at Glendale Forge is rather unusual, as part of it is elevated on a steel viaduct. The Butlin's loco is ex-Ayr (145). I have some slides from a private visit as long ago as 1991... Peter S. |
