I have a dream...; Lynton and Barnstaple

I have a dream, call it stupid, of owning a 7 1/4" Manning Wardle, as I LOVE the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway! Fingers crossed it may, one day, come true, but sadly I doubt it, and thus I am not holding my breath. However, this leads me on to another question...

There once was a 7 1/4" railway at Bratton Flemming on the L&B, and here was a Manning Wardle as seen in this photograph:

http://www.009.cd2.com/lynton_and_barnstaple_modelling/albums/LBlocomotivemodels/lyntonandbarnstaplemodellocomotives26.html

Does anyone know where it's gone, as I know the 7 1/4" has been replaced with a 2' demo line (although I have no pictures...if anyone else does?

Also, how feasible is it to 'modify' a Tinkerbell into a Manning Wardle-esc loco? And does anyone have a Tinkerbell that want to donate to a worthy cause? :P

Thanks

Chris Auckland

It was more a question of where the ex-Bratton Flemming 7.25" stock and locos has gone but...

Being 21 'getting on' with it isnt that easy!

Depends what it is you're 'getting on' with, at 21, or not as the case may be... ... ;) :P

But we'll leave it there on that front... ... ;)

I doubt you have £26,500 spare either, or you could have the scale model that's for sale at Bolebrooke... ...

I echo your query about the Bratton Fleming loco - it was a big beast!

Also, does anyone know the whereabouts of Bratton, the Tinkerbell that was there originally? I think I saw it surface somewhere relatively recently but cant remember where... ...

Thanks,

Dom Greenop

Bratton is still with Chris Fincken isn't it? It certainly was in April 2007: Bratton
Didn't Taw go to the Wayside Light Railway I think I saw some pictures in NGN of it being delivered by crane.

Isn't there a miniature L&B tank in the national railway museum next to little giant? or am I thinking of the wrong gauge?

I think you're thinking of the wrong railway. There's a VoR tank next to LG... ...

Is this the Taw currently residing at Eastleigh Lakeside Railway, minus the cab. It has visited MVR quite resently and is a little breast of a loco.

Stu,

Nope, different one.

TAW was mentioned in the recent Heywood Journal, and is currently being rebuilt.

Thanks

Taw did in fact go to Wayside where it is being fully rebuilt with a cab big enough to take a normal sized human being. I gather it was a bit small before so your legs got a bit of a roasting. Also I think it suffered a bit from where it was stored...
