Called in at Stapleford on the way home from parents today to see a magnificent yellow Burrell showmans' engine and take the girls on the railway. The storming Saint set fire to the bank on the way up to the tunnel and we had a ride with the Niagara. The EAR&H loco was magnificent too. Sadly the shop had run out of the new DVD, so I'll have to get one by post. An excellent steam rally and railway afternoon (getting a fix of my two main passions!), though I was sorry to observe a couple of gentlemen at the pay gate wanting to be let in for nowt to see the railway only (you had to go through the rally site to get to the line), surely the £5 admission (going totally to charity) wasn't too much - even as a donation? Piccies hopefully in the next day or two. |
