With the fantastic assistance of fellow readers of this and one other forum I have collated a history of three locomotive survivors of which photographs were collected by the late SLS Member, Stanford Jacobs. (That story is covered elsewhere.)

The common thread discovered unexpectedly (as two are 10 1/4 inch gauge the other 15 inch gauge) is that all three ran at Dudley Zoo, at some time between their construction date and arriving at their current homes. So a new question - Is there a good history of the Dudley Zoo Railway on-line anywhere a reader can recommend which I can add a link to from the relevant pages of info' about the locomotives?

I don't knowof one John, but there was an excellent article in a back issue of the Narrow Gauge News in the late 1990s if I recall rightly.

'Trevor Guest and the Dudley Zoo Railway' by Dave Holroyde appeared in The Narrow Gauge issue 158, Autumn 1997.

Thanks chaps. I will try to track down a copy of the mentioned mag as it isn't one I have back copies of.

AJ - glad to see you using the avatar photo of the SLS engine Orion by the way.

Thanks John, it's me driving the engine in October 2006 for the Heywood Society visit, with the late lamented Robin Butterell in the background. Lovely!

Cheers
Anthony
