A holiday in York last week finally gave me the opportunity to see the new developments at Scarborough - I was shocked to realise that it had been a full ten years since my previous visit! Unfortunately we were pushed for time and were thus only able to make a single journey from Scalby Mills to Peasholm, but before we left I was able to grab some quick snaps of what appears to be an intriguing new loco: a camelback Gresley A3! :D

Seriously though, 1933 Triton appears to be undergoing some repairs. The service train was hauled by Robin Hood with five the of the standard semi-open coaches.

From what I know Neptune is under overhaul, Poseidon's engine is shot and Triton was only out of service for two days so Triton may be back in service. Correct me if im wrong.
There is the right way, then theres Lucas's way.

No. Posidon is up and running after having one of its cylinders replaced and Triton is in bits as its pump is away being analysed whether it is worth rebuilding or not.

Unfortunately the pump that is on Neptune is different to that on Triton so we can't just transfer it over.

Ah when I spoke to Graham I got the impression that the engine was going to have to replaced, good news that it was just the cylinder!

Thanks for the info David :) May I ask if Neptune is currently dismantled, or off site? As I was fairly sure I could only see Poseidon inside the shed...

The original story this was taken from is http://www.scarborougheveningnews.co.uk/news/It39s-the-interkitty-express-for.5743689.jp with a follow up today http://www.scarborougheveningnews.co.uk/news/Percy-the-Scarborough-rail-passenger.5749955.jp

Reality is that Percy comes to the railway most days to be stroked and made a fuss of by our passengers. He climbs on and off the coaches at will although I have not seen him travel the full length of the line. If the train starts, he usually jumps off.

JORDAN ASHLEY LEEDS

Trains go into tunnels and come out but locos can go in sheds and never come out

Triton's rebuild has finished and the locomotive will be running in this weekend.

The engine has been rebored and rebuilt, a new pump fitted and the hydraulic motor completely stripped and rebuilt. New pipework has also been fitted.

The work was not in this years budget, but hopefully, the locomotive will now run for many years to come without engine or hydraulic problems.

Currently, the aim is to repaint her in time for the railway's 80th Aniversary of opening on 23rd May 2011.

To bring the record up to date on Neptune; presently, she is in the shed reposing as a 0-0-0. The Drivers are away having the new tyres fitted and the bogie and trailing wheels are being re-profiled. We were awarded a grant from the Transport Trust to aid the completion of the rebuild and it is hoped she will be finished for the Heywood weekend in May next year wearing a new coat of Brunswick Green paint.

Finally, through the hard work of our staff, earlier this month the railway granted Investor in People status - see http://www.scarborougheveningnews.co.uk/news/Railway-delight-atinvestors-award.5837286.jp
