After circumnavigating the southern outskirts of Lincoln and a drive along an empty byway, I arrived in the village of Kirkby Green for my first visit to the KGLR in it's 'new' location. Having previously visited the old line eons ago, the difference is substantial!![]() The line-up outside the shed ![]() William Bell ![]() 4808 Vanguard ![]() 4906 Valiant ![]() The fantabulous 'Santa Fe' Railcar ![]() Valiant waits for the signals to change ![]() The attractive signal box ![]() Kelvin demonstrates the pull-chord throttle on the railcar ![]() Can anyone identify this coach? ![]() John (Porkchop) takes the diesel driving very seriously... ![]() 5091 Victory ![]() Santa Fe heads off on another trip ![]() Santa Fe gets the road ahead of the awaiting steam train ![]() Valiant passes the house ![]() Kelvin gets the road in the railcar ahead of Victory! Overall a very enjoyable couple of hours at a wonderful private railway. It was good to catch up with John (Porkchop) and Kelvin (NarrowRails), the highlights of the day were definately the trip in the seat behind the driver on the railcar and getting a 'bonus' second trip around the long circuit after a points problem. Only downside was that I never managed to get a train around the middle circuit! Colin |

I'm very jealous of you Colin, would have loved to have visited yesterday (an even hinted) but unfortunatly the 2hr drive, and the requirement to be taken out for lunch by my parents prevented it. I do love that railcar! |

Another superb set of photos Colin, thanks very much! I did not realise that there are 3 Atlantics on the line - must have been asleep last time there were photos published of this very attractive roster! Vanguard is the one that caught me out. Still have the bits and harbouring thoughts for a winter modelling project for a 15" gauge version based on one of these (in 0-9 of course!) Mick |
