I've just seen this on Gnatterbox; anybody know any more? One assumes by its wagons and the "Quarry Foreman" that it's based on something existing like a quarry railway, perhaps 2ft or 18" gauge. But what a little beast! http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=36736 |

TIm, the loco was 2ft gauge and operated at a sand quarry in the Ryton area, possibly the one at Stargate, later owned by McAlpines. Its fate is unknown. Cheers , Dave |

What a fascinating loco, I wonder how many more home builds have we lost over the years? Colin |

Thanks Dave - probably got lost in the 'war effort'! Reminds me of that Old Smokey now at Windmill Farm, as a crude home build. Except this is rather more photogenic. |
