Today the Heywood Society held the first day of their Autum meeting on the Ratty. As well as 3 of the home fleet in service (River's Irt, Esk and Mite) as well as Synolda, there was also Count Louis visiting again from Evesham vale and double heading with Synolda on 2 additional trains. Here are some pics

Blacolversley has already had its centenery celebrated, however it was rolled out again today for showing off, it also run up and down platform one every so often.

Synolda and Count Louis departing Ravenglass. Rail conditions were rather unfavourable for this pair and they carried plenty of sand on board, however, after taking 15 minuites to reach Miteside (normally 10) they kept time pretty much for the rest of the day.

As well as Blacolversley's centenery, it is also Perkins 80th birthday, and a major overhaul on the loco's engine was completed over the last couple of weeks to allow the engine to return to service this weekend.

There will be more photos on Eliot's photopic site http://cumbria.fotopic.net/ over the next day or so
Thanks to all the Heywood Society members who made the trip up to Cumbria and made the event really worthwhile, and thanks also to Count Louis owners and supprt group for making the loco available

How do they get the tender back?? As there is no room left in that trailer for it.

How about the Bure Valley Railway?

For the BVR 21st Birthday celebrations in 2011, we are considering locos visiting for a week or two, over the Summer months, so that their crews can all have a play on the BVR, rather than just one bash over a weekend,

Obviously, locos that have visited the BVR before should take priority, in order to recreate the earlier days of the line.

(Now let me think, that's #24; Siān; Romney locos; Ratty locos; "St Egwin"; ROD; Mountaineer; "Lydia"; "Red Dragon"; etc.; etc.)

Perhaps we need to start a new topic - "BVR 21st Birthday Celebrations".

Best wishes,
David Barnes

Well, the first (and indeed only) time I've ever seen Count Louis was at Aylsham, so I think she counts! Ursula and the Heywood dining car were there on that occasion as well... ;)

As soon as I had pressed the "go" button, I realised that I should have included "Count Louis".

I also remember "Ursula's" visit with the Heywood dining car (now both at Perrygrove - most of the time).

We will also have to go back through the records and find out which of the Romney locos. has NOT visited the BVR!

Best wishes,
David Barnes

Yes, Andy had the tender on the second trailer - couldn't get a shot of the tender before it was loaded though - in the wrong place for the sun and with a bit of fence in the way!
