Can I please remind all our members to review these rules and abide by them. If members fail to do this, warnings will be given by staff - this is not because we want to give them, it's because the majority of members do not have time for the few that do follow these rules. If problems persist, then members could get suspended - you have been warned! Post Etiquette Sentences should start with a capital letter and finish with a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark. Please do not type in 'text language' or BLOCK CAPITALS, and only use bold or italics to emphasise a point or create a heading. Please check your spelling and paragraphing before submitting a post! To check spelling, we reccomend downloading internet browser Mozilla Firefox (www.mozilla.com) and downloading the spell checker add on. Please do not use excessive ‘smileys’, three in a row is enough! Post Content Before posting a new forum topic please check whether there is a similar existing topic. When replying to a topic, please try to stay on the subject of the original posting. We acknowledge that sometimes a small diversion is inevitable, but if possible please start a new topic. Please try and ensure that all information posted is factual and please indicate where rumour or conjecture is used. Any quotes from published material should clearly indicate the source. Please check that you have followed these rules before clicking the Reply button! Thanks Peter On Behalf of the MRW Staff Team Edited by peterbryant, 2 Nov 2009, 07:39 PM.

It sound's as thought the admin team is getting as annoyed as me with the lack of punctuation, incorrect spellings and text talk, but i wish to point out that it is clear (to me anyway) that not everyone on the forum is mentally able to follow these rules... |

I disagree. It is true that English punctuation is a minefield, but most people aren't writing 2000-word essays here...all the rules ask is that people use a capital letter at the start of the sentance and an appropriate punctuation mark at the end, which is not rocket science. (Though, at risk of being pedantic, I would argue that ellipsis - that's ... - is also a legitimate way to end a sentance ) There's also a difference between misspelling a word because you struggle with spelling or typing, and deliberately using abbreviations which are not always as intelligable to the reader as they are to the poster! Hello guys, We have discussed this at great length and understand fully about the difficulties which may affect some, however we believe that there are ways around it as are mentioned in Peter's post. Obviously we are not going to be handing out bans willy nilly and will strive to avoid this happening at all costs, all we are trying to achieve is a easily accessible for all and tidy forum. I am going to close this topic now, any more comments or ideas should be PM'ed or Emailed to myself or another one of the Moderation team and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks for your co-operation, Ben |
