Surely the NRM would realise that it would Carry the Number D9002 rather than 55002 in that livery, I thought they were experts!!!, still screaming out for headcode numbers apart from that it looks a nice and well built locomotive. I have a Mardyke deltic based at Barnards farm in Essex and is now 32 years old and still going strong! |

Oh I see yes I remember one of the deltics going green it its final days. So I suppose the little will need full yellow ends and marker lights in the headcode panels to bring it up to date with the numbers it's carrying or it needs back dating with the numbers reverted back to it's 'D' format and headcodes aplying at both ends ie '1A35' or the '1A16' which were the codes for the up and down flying scotman or something simerler. I think at the moment its a bit lost between the two eras! Railbus. |

So what happened to John and Helen? Is there now a turntable at each end of the line or does the driver have to look over his shoulder in one direction? |

I believe run-round loops have been installed. With the deltic being a MArdyke there are two seats in the cab facing opposite directions; all the driver has to do is turn round andd sit in the other seat. HTH, Dom

Ahh, ok. I didn't realise Mardyke locos had dual controls. However, do John and Helen now have to run tender-first in one direction? In all my many visits to the NRM I have never seen that railway operate with anything other then John and Helen working top and tail, I was starting to think they don't have a reverse gear! |

Mardyke's don't have dual controls, just one set of controls between two seats. If two people ridei nthe loco they knock-knees... See the photos posted on page 1 of this thread, the second seat is just visible... Dom |
