Just pondering out my next possible project, I would like to investigate the possibilities of recreating a Curwen atlantic but in 5" gauge. The question is, does anyone have access to or know where I can get access to a set of drawings for such. Failing that a set of leading dimensions would be useful.
Thanks
Steve

You could run a tape measure around an existing one if possible?

Waverley is the only one in the UK working in near-original form... Currently winterised at Rudyard Lake Steam Railway, it will be back in service after its steam test in March.

Just remember to compensate for the 1/4" offset in the location of the cylinders...

What the concensus at Rudyard is that Curwen had two o them in for overhaul at the same time and got various parts mixed up. The tender bogies for example are different on Waverley, and also John Gretton (I think), so I think its these two engines that got mixed up...

Haha my favourate loco :P

If you want to build a curwin alantic, then just do what Mr Curwin did, which was to build it to LBSCs highland lassie design, and chop the back set of drivers off.

which is indeed what I did to make a 7 1/4 "Robin Hood". Apparently Crawley MES had a 5 inch Curwen atlantic.
