Steam returns to the Littlehampton Miniature Railway next April in the form of the Fairbourne Railway's 'Sherpa' - more details here on the Littlehampton Railway website.

I had been waiting for this to appear. Known about it for quite awhile but didnt want to annouce before it was offically out in the open. Should be an interesting visit and great publicity for both railways. Hopefully get the chance to go down and drive her there.

We should all be grateful that steam is returning to Littlehampton, but what a money spinner/attraction it would be to see a Thurston Pacific or two in steam. Roll on next year. Does any one know the condition of these locos?.

I went to a meeting at the railway last meeting for the formation of a friends society to support the railway. Lots of ways to improve the railway are planned, it'll certainly improve what was there before many times over.

Might be going to Fairbourne for familiarisation with 'Sherpa', can't wait for that!

Hi

On Monday Sherpa left Fairbourne on route to Littlehampton, she was unloaded and steamed up for a few tests runs which went well. A short video of her moving from the sheds and taking her first train is available here -

The timetable for when Sherpa is running and other information can be found on the railways website -

I visited the railway today to see 'Sherpa', it was very quiet today but the cloudy weather probably put people off. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

A great set of pictures, do I spy a new coach in the train?

Am hoping to head down to Littlehampton on Saturday. I just wondered if anyone can give me an idea of the service frequency on the line? The website timetables only state the first and last trains. Also, is steam operation weather-dependent? As the forecast for the weekend is not promising...

Went a couple of weeks ago. 30 minute service each way with a 30 minute break for lunch. Was made very welcome and had a footplate ride.

I did visit Littlehampton yesterday, in glorious sunshine :) Was great to see my old friend from Fairbourne in a new setting. Photos, as ever, on Flickr:
