Giants on the Line

The Friends of the Kirklees Light Railway are pleased to announce details of the 12th Annual Steam & Diesel Gala Weekend. On the 9th and 10th September 2017 the railway will welcome two quite large engines and two smaller engines which when an event has the name Giant in the title simply could not be missed out!

Visiting Engines for your delectation and delight will include:-

Synolda courtesy of our friends at the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway
Prince Edward of Wales courtesy of our friends at the Rhyl Miniature Railway

and (at the other end of the scale)

Hurricane and Winston Churchill courtesy of our friends at the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway.

All locomotives are subject to availability!

From the KLR home fleet we will have Badger, Hawk, Owl and Katie with Jay and Tram No. 7

Barnsley Model Railway Club will be holding a display of their layouts in the workshop building and we hope to have trade stands supporting the visiting locomotives.

New this year Denby Dale Lions will he holding a "Miniature" beer festival which will be open both days of the event and until 11:00 on Saturday Evening.

An intensive timetable will be running on both days and of course the gala will finish the only way we know how with the "Shelley or Bust" multiple header at 17:00 ish on the Sunday evening.

At Clayton West there will be a display of classic, vintage or interesting vehicles.

Advance tickets will be on sale shortly at www.kirkleeslightrailway.com

Now, where did we leave the beanstalk?!
