This is a picture taken in New Zealand about 5 years ago and I wondered if anyone could identify the railway? It is now believed to be closed and was a circular line.

A stab in the dark - the Burkes Pass railway out of Fairlie in the centre of the South Island. I never visited it despite driving through the area regularly as I never realised it was there.

An article appeared in Summer 2006 issue of Heritage Matters (www.heritagematters.co.nz) with an article on Rail in Miniature. It includes several pictures of this loco at the Mandeville Steam Railway on Ian Frost in North Canterbury NZ.
