Just a few notes about the use of the Miniature Railway Modelling section of the forum.

Please keep all posts to the subject of modelling miniature or minimum gauge railways between the gauges of 3 1/2" gauge and 15" gauge. If anyone is modelling the 20 or 21" gauge lines we are happy to hear from them too!

There are a multitude of different scale and gauge combinations that can be used to model smaller railways. Two of the most popular are O9, which is 7mm to the foot scale on 9mm gauge track and Gn15, G scale on 16.5mm track. Both of these scales represent 15" gauge railways and enjoy trade support for both locos and rolling stock.

The latest development in modelling miniature railways is Gnine, using G scale on 9mm gauge track. Other possibilities which have been seen in the past are 10mm scale (the same as Gauge 1 and Brittains farm accessories), using 9mm gauge track to represent approx 10 1/4" gauge or 6.5mm gauge track to represent the model engineering scales.

This section can also be used to discuss 'virtual' modelling of miniature railway prototypes using Microsoft Train Simulator software.

Please do not use this section to discuss railway modelling in other scales, e.g. gauges N, HO, OO, O, 1 etc, or modelling narrow gauge railways in 009, HOe, On30 or 0-16.5 scales.
