Like I said my knowlege of gauges less than 15" is limited.
What I have just discovered that Roger Marshes "Tinkerbell" design is probably the most beautiful miniature loco I've seen.
Are these loco's still produced? Can ayone point me to some links that might tell me more?
Thanks

Ian

I havn't heard of roger marsh making locomotives for a long time, but know his plans are still kicking around. A railway near ours, the Kirton railway, built one in 1999 using his own patterns and the build time took about a year. his web site is My Webpage (think thats right. never done that before!) The tinkerbelle is a very heywoodesque loco and the first time i came across one is in inverness at the model engineering society's club track. very impressive loco, managing their gradient coming up to the bridge with ease... I can understand why you feel the design is such a beutiful one.

Check out the website, Sherwood Forest Railway

David;
Thanks for the information and the website link. I'd seen that one a while back and forgot to bookmark it.
It seems like Tinkerbelle's were built to 7 1/4" gauge only. Am I right?
Of course Simon, modelling one of them is a given. Though I might just stretch the bounds of believability and model it as a 9" version
;)

Castings & Drawings are available from Fincken Miniature Railways - see www.miniaturerailway.com. I would guess there are around 50 in the UK based on the design - there are many varients from the 0-4-2 up to 2-6-4! They are all 7 1/4" gauge except one or two that have been regauged to 10 1/4"..so a model 9" Tinkerbell could be quite feasible. ;)

"Lynton" which I beleive is now on the Royal Victoria Railway, Netley, was built to 7 1/4" gauge and converted to 10 1/4" gauge whilst in the ownership of Rich Morris and looked well enough. Go for it Ian...

I know where I can get an engine...any time I want
