Just thought I'd share a couple of progress pics of my latest modelling project.
I's a model of Eastleigh, from the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway.

Those of you who know Eastleigh know that it doesnt have cab doors. But They will hide the fact that the driver will be amputated at the knees to clear the Bachmann F7 chassis underneath.

That's certainly come along nicely Ian, and I don't think the cab doors deviate from the prototype too much. What did you use for the louvres in the end and what is the mesh on the grille?

I'm looking forward to seeing the end result, are you modelling it as Eastleigh or going for a ficticious sister ordered for Strawberry Fen?

Peter, Colin;
Thanks, glad you like the loco. It certainly is an interesting prototype.
Colin, the louvres are some 1.3mm clapboard styrene sheet from Evergreen and the grille is sold in the US as "Alumin(i)um Micro Mesh" suitable for HO scale chain link fencing. I bought a 6" x 3" piece years ago and if you look at all my scratchbuilt loco's on my website you'll probably see some on every loco and I still have quite a bit left.
As for the finish. Its very likely going to be a fictitious sister to Eastleigh with some kind of fruity name and painted in a corresponding livery.
It is a fruit farm after all...

Very much alike to the prototype Ian, which I have seen just the once in the flesh. Maybe you should take it to Eastleigh and see what they think? Might even get a couple of free rides ;)

Thanks;
Max Millard who built the loco was very kind enough to take a full set of photographs for me and gave me some dimensions which helped me to produce a working drawing to make the model.
Its a darned long way from Minneapolis to Eastleigh to show a model loco off though :D

Nice work Ian,
I have a soft spot for the prototype, so your model is a sure-fire hit with me.
I wonder if you dare tackle the conrods of the original? :)
This makes me consider Gnine as well as O9.

All the best

Thanks Andrew;
Glad you like it.
Eastleigh is the loco that got me interested in Miniature railways. I have less interest in the scale model miniatures. I'm more interested in loco's like "Bertie" at Faversham and "Rye" and the Tinkerbell class of steam locos.
As for the conrods I think thats a bit beyond my workshop and skills :o
Come on in and try the Gnine water Andrew it's fun. There's plenty of inspiration at http://gnine.info and we'd love to show any gnine models you'd make there.

Ian,
I've been dropping into Gnine quite often actually to check on progress. I like whats going on there.
As for me doing a Gnine loco, its increasingly likely. I could cheat of course & remove O scale driver from my 2-8-0, replacing it with G scale fella. Tah-dah!

Sudden thought; i wonder if an optional tender for G-scale would be an idea? 2 for the price of one.
