Just a quick note to say Hi.

My name is Tom and my interest in miniature railways has been rekindled by a couple of visits to miniature railways in Devon whilst on holiday this year (dobwalls and the hidden valley).
I've got a few questions stored up which i'll try not to bore you all with.
regards
Tom

Welcome to the forums Tom, I went to Dobwalls a while back and was amazed by the system. Although I'm not usually a fan of American stock, it was a case of seeing is believing
"If the fascination engendered by locomotion at the present day is so intense, the attractive powers of locomotion in miniature must of necessity be greater still"

thanks for the welcome guys.
regarding "dobwalls" - it certainly has a lot to answer for :D
My Parents took there every year when I was young and this year I retuned with my own children, I think they enjoyed almost as much as I did.
I'm happy to admit that the many visits have turned my interest towards the American style of loco and I'd really like to find something similar to restore and then use.

Cheers
Tom

Welcome Tom! Fire away at the questions! :) I haven't been to Dobwalls myself, but it is on my WANTED list along with a few other lines down south.

Interesting place Dobwalls, worth a visit at least once, though at £8 a head maybe not more than once... I believe like many tourist attractions down here they are in debt, much like Brocklands (home of the abused Exmoor loco Dennis!)...

aye its not cheap when there's a few of you (and only one paying!)
but with as many goes on the trains as you want and loads of stuff for the kids to do, its still a good day out.
I think they are doing ok as there was an article about a proposed £5.5 million art exhibtion and cultural centre to be built next door to the railway.

Cheers
Tom
