Just thought that I'd drop in and post a "hello" message. I'm Eliot, and I am a junior volunteer on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, although in less than a year's time, I'll be a 16-year-old volunteer who can do things unsupervised! Should be about to guard most weekends when in times of dire need (believe me, a far too common occurence!) You may have seen my Fotopic galleries... http://cumbria.fotopic.net http://rnerlocos.fotopic.net The first is a sort of photographic logbook of my volunteering while the other is a collection of pictures for each of the Ratty locos. I also set up the R&ER Fotopic community... http://rner.communities.fotopic.net Feel free to join up if you have R&ER pics in your galleries. If you have any questions about Ravenglass, then please do ask me. If I don't know, then I'll endeavour to find out for you! |

Hi Elliot! I thought it must be you after your first post, welcome to the MRW Forum! I must admit I haven't had the chace to visit the 'Ratty' yet, however I have seen Silver Jubilee, Flower of the Forest, Bonnie Dundee and Synolda in operation at Cleethorpes. Perhaps I could join your community?! All the best, Colin |

Colin - no need to join the community seen as how you're already a member!
Progress is still ongoing with fully converting Silver Jubilee back into coaching stock. The former power car is currently in the joiner's workshops at Ravenglass being converted into our third cycle saloon, No. 137. 136 (the former driving trailer) was converted into a saloon coach a couple of years ago while 123 and 126 (the centre coaches) were simply repainted back into the Furness Railway livery from their mock-FNW paint jobs.Andrew - I live 30 minutes up the road from Ravenglass in Whitehaven. Nice to hear that you'll be popping into the Ratty often! |

Indeed they are, Peter. Track Week formally begins tomorrow (we are relaying between Walk Mill Summit and Big Stone, to the west of Irton Road), and its been nice and rainy over the past week. Still, the lineside pigs will be happy.
 Shelagh and part of the p-way train, 105 (mess coach), 102 (temporary mess coach), The Red Van and the Man-Rider are all stuck at the top half of the line, beyond the breach, ferrying the staff and volunteers who live on the top half of the line to and from work (such as those who live in Dalegarth cottages, where Shelagh can be conveniently parked outside their houses!) |
