Hi,
A friend of mine has bought this:-

Posted Image

and we would like to know if anyone has any history for it?

Its a 'large scale' 7 1/4" loco, 4-4-2(Atlantic) with tender, quite big - loco is 6 foot long plus tender and obviously quite old although with very little wear.

The name plate is "The Mew Gull" if it means anything to any one?

Regards

Kev,

4-4-2 No. 253 "The Mew Gull" built by Barfoot & Mew in 1987 and had been at "a private location". No doubts Dave Holroyde (Miniature Railways officer at Narrow Gauge Rly Society) may know more.

Built in1987? Wow, for a 19 year old loco, it looks like it has had a hard life!

Hi David,

It doesn't look that 'tidy' at the moment because the boiler cladding if off and it has (about) 10 years of dust and grime over it. Mechanically it is still very good. Although it was finished in © 1987 the build was started (like many projects) many years before that.

More Important, Who is Barfoot & Mew?

Looks a lovely engine - Wish I had one of those!!

Sorry Kevin, if i'd looked a bit closer, i'd have seen the boiler bands and dome were off, and the lagging was poking out...

Looks a real sweet engine, should be fun when it gets it's ticket ;)
