In September 2006, we rescued the remains of the Himley Hall Miniature Railway near Dudley. We brought back approx 100 yards of 7.25" track, Mardyke Mk3 coach (discovered inside the ruined shed) and sundry items. This was amid the bulldozers ripping up the remaining track "for training purposes". Sadly most of the 400m circuit was ruined by the time we arrived. However, pics of what we found in Jan 06 and later in Aug/Sept 06 are here for posterity. This line had been abandoned since 1993. There was also an extensive model village (some buildings being restored at Bekonscot) and a 2ft gauge tramway, run with Parry People Mover flywheel trams. Pics here: January 2006 railway/village pics The buildings and track Sept 2006 - showing mangled track and then the collection arriving at Bekonscot Mangled track and old station / tramway signs If anyone has pics of the village or railways in operation, I'd love to hear from you. |

Wasn't the ex. Himley HST converted to a 5" battery electric by Brian Merrifield when he ran Poole Park? Or is that another Mardyke? |

Charles That Mardyke is indeed the same one. It is (I think) the only Mardyke to have been gauged to 5". Tim |

Tim: There are some really depressing pictures there. Good job there's mostly a happy ending. Ian |
