Anyone know what happened to the project a few years back that was aiming to revive the "Age of Steam" site near Penzance? Think it was going to be the "Bolton Moors Railway" and run by Cornish Steam Enterprises, they planned to relay as 7 1/4" and had a steam loco? |

I seem to remember there were some ads in the railway press at the time, asking for potential investors to come forward. IIRC, it was to be run on a timeshare basis, with holiday homes on the site too. I did hear someone talking about it recently; I can't remember who it was. I think the project's fate was sealed when the developers failed to get planning consent for the planned holiday park (static caravans or cabins). There was a website for it, but that's long gone. Not sure of the URL so can't use www.archive.org ... |

Not much online about it. But you'll find some links in here http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22cornis...n&start=10&sa=N Don't know who was behind the project. The past 10 years or so has seen a wealth of smaller "tertiary" attractions appear. For every one that has opened (and sometimes flourished) there are always several that have not made it off the drawing boards. Some get a bit further, but it's rare for bricks to actually get laid on the ground. There are very few people who have made their millions from small tourist attractions. And I include miniature railways and model villages firmly in that bracket...!
