Hi one and all. I was browsing the net while doing some research and came across this forum.......and now I'm hooked. A little about me, my name is Glyn and I am one of the two full time drivers at Longleat in Wiltshire. I left school and started work driving the train at Longleat Railway at the age of 16 in 1980 on a government youth training scheme. I left after 2 and a half years ( not my choice !! ) and went and did lots of other things. I started work back at the railway in Jan 2005. It is wierd how so many things have changed but so much but is still the same. Due to so many changes and a lack of any paperwork recording these changes, I am in the process of constructing a website about Longleat Railway, hense my stumbling across this site. I hope some of my posts are able to be as interesting to you as many that I have already read have been to me.

Welcome to the forum! I'm looking forward to seeing your site on the Longleat railway, it is a line that has been greatly overlooked over the years and appears to have quite a complex and fascinating history. There are various mentions of it here on the forum, I'm sure you have found most of them by now Colin |

Hi Glynn, A warm welcome to the MRW Forums! I think I may have seen you featured on Animal Park along with the others when "John Hayton" (the engine not man!) was new? I've got that on video somewhere. I also look forward to the website and hope ytou can help me with the Longleat page on the main MRW page! Will be in contact with you over PM soon. Thanks Peter Webmaster of MRW |
