Some of you good people here may know me from various sources, but for those who don't, here's a bit about me! I'm Chris, 19, originally from Scarborough (NBR connections from early age!), lived in Stockport for most of my life. In September I'm starting a course at Newcaste in Electrical Engineering, most of the interest being stemmed from miniature railways! I worked as a volunteer at Brookside for many years as a child with my parents, and we then went on to become founder members of the Dragon Miniature Railway down the road in Marple. I've not had an association with either railway for a long time now, though. Watch this space for some photos from the early years of Brookside and Dragon MR when I dig out my collection. In other capacities I have had various (now defunct) MR websites, and am co-moderator of the UKMiniatureRailways Yahoo!Group. That's about it really, hope to have some fun here

Hello, Chris, good to see (well, hear from ) you again. I remember the (cough) "Good old days" (cough - makes me sound old) at Brookside, especially Norman's Mardyke and Alwyn setting Lady P's shovel on fire repeatedly, before reversing far too quickly and putting the last carriage in the turntable well. I suppose I could say I was a pseudo-volunteer there (well I was there every weekend and was on first-name terms with everybody).A warning - Dragon has changed A LOT since you were last there - I've been there regularly for 6 years and there have been plenty of changes in that time! Unfortunately due to being in Plymouth I can only get up there during holidays. One last point - Welcome to the Forums! Hope you enjoy it here.
Cheers, Dom Greenop DMR Driver/guard/general dogsbody (when I'm up there - at other times I'm the webmaster) MRW Forums Moderator |

Hello Chris, Welcome aboard. Where in Newcastle will you be studying? I was with Northumbria Uni, but my course franchised to Newcastle College. Great city for social life, make the most of it. You'll be well placed for visiting the Heatherslaw Light railway while in the region. Andrew |
