Very nice. Surprised she wasn't in steam with 319 though. :(

Cheers,

She was in steam with 319 yesterday (in the most appauling conditions) and will probably be this Sunday. Alas on the Sunday I have the grandparents round so I will be unable to make it :(

'Arctic Prince' has had its rear bogie rolled out to have the slipped wheel fixed.

334 is now undertaking running in and so far performs well.

A mains water pipe burst last weekend near the pool complex just outside the one and only station on the line, and the track has shifted slightly. Re-packing was undertaken during the New Year's Day steam up but the ballast is sinking away into the foundations...

With the station building now practically finished, thoughts are now turning to the new engine shed and workshop. This will be built over the current carriage shed (which is slowly being emptied of 'junk') and the carriage shed will be taken apart bit by bit from the inside of the loco shed shell. A picture is shown of the Architect's plan and elevations views and it shows a 5 road engine shed, two roads either side and one central road with space either side of the central road for access.

The Duchess is now based on the Mid Hants Railway on a short up and down line at Ropley I believe. I'll be sure to get some pics of it when I'm at the Mid Hants on the 3rd of February ;)

5156 is out of action awaiting a boiler test.

Dates of this years' special events can be found in the MRW Events board.

Fares have increased slightly this year, and the range of 'Supersaver' tickets has been limited:

Adults: £1.50
Child: £1

I will chase up the price of the Supersaver tickets, but instead of 6 and 12 ride tickets we now offer a 4 ride ticket.

It seems likely that 'Peggy' will be the engine on display with the SDLR display at Brighton ModelWorld (ModelWorld website). It has also been suggested that Arctic Prince will be on display as well, although this depends as to whether the rear bogie has been replaced or not.

The March Roster has now been published by our CME, and I can tell you that:

Richards Engineering SR King Arthur Class No. 771 'Sir Sagramore' is to spend her first day in passenger hauling service on the 24th March, along with Trevor Guest Black Five No. 5156 'Ayrshire Yeomanry'. This will be our scale engines day of the month, with LMS Mogul No. 13245 in steam on the 15th March.

'Peggy' will be in steam on the 9th March (along with Pulborough), 16th March and the 21st March.

The new engine shed and workshop has been brought right to the top of the list of things to do, and a work weekend to dig and pour concrete for the foundations has been set in late April.

The bridge (I refer to it as 'The' because we only have the one :D ) is having the floor replaced as it was rotten and in fact crumbled away in the hand!

Arctic Prince was not available to be put on display at Brighton ModelWorld.

It has been discovered that two wheels were loose on the axles on the other bogie so Arctic Prince is currently up on blocks whilst the wheels are all turned to the same dimensions (yes, you did read that right) and the wheels repressed/keyed back onto the axles.

771 and the Uppingham stock have changed hands and will remain on site.

'Peggy' is on display at Brighton ModelWorld.

A picture of the completed 'Queen Mary' style brake van is on the home page of the SDLR website. Click on the banner in my signature to see it ;)

There are also pictures of the Mogul and 771 in steam.

Brake van's looking very nice, Simon. Look forward to seeing some high-res. pictures of it once in service. :)

The Queen Mary Brake Van was in use today, I haven't ridden in it yet but it looks really stable!

Pulborough & Peggy were in steam, as well as Chris Knibb's Keith Wilson GWR 2-8-0 No. 4701:

Posted Image

It only went up and down the extension, seeing as the wheelbase is too long!

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures except the one above as I was driving Pulborough for the majority of the day.

5156 has had its fusible plug and safety valves removed for an ultrasound test on the boiler.
