Finally - it's arrived! After gathering various parts of it over the past few months, we picked up the main (large) bits of the Mardyke Intercity 125 this weekend. It's now safely in secure storage so we can start work on it. Must admit, despite having been out in London til 2am last night, a supreme hangover (and possibly still being a bit drunk) wasn't enough to keep me from getting back out to Bucks to start on the regauging of the Mk3 coaches this afternoon. If you bookmark the website, you'll see updates over the coming months as we strip "Mardyke Falcon" down, rebuild and upgrade her. Later this week I'll be posting more pics of her innards, as well as some pics of the disused and overgrown Himley Miniature Railway as we found it. Website is here: http://www.intercity125.co.uk nb. my HTML is appalling - it doesn't all work properly at the moment... |

All we need now is one of those sodding dummy cars... that still eludes me, despite ads in pretty much every miniature railway medium over the past few months. It wasn't until I dismantled the bogies yesterday that I realised not only are they fully sprung, but they also have an inbuilt tilting system to gently tilt the coaches into a curve, much like an APT or a Pendolino. Very interesting. If anyone has experience with upgrading Mardyke bogies, do let me know! |
