its at a good price but how much work do you think would need to be done to get it in working condition and how much time?

I'd avoid it if i were you. Doesn't seem kosher and may require more work than it seems to get it working corrently.

Although it was at a reasonable price I'd steer clear like Dom says. Not the best of locos - I'd wait for something like a Sweet Pea, Polly or a Maxirak loco where spares and help is easily available, plus they are proven designs.
