Hi,

My name is David Barnes and since April 2007 I have been Chairman of the 15" gauge Bure Valley Railway, which runs from Aylsham to Wroxham in Norfolk.

I am a Chartered Civil Engineer who worked for BR. From 1975 until 1985, I worked in the IT area of BR. From 1985 until I retired from a then privatised area of BR in 1998, I worked in the “Projects” organisation. During that time I was PM for a number of projects including a new electric loco.; part of the ECML electrification project; and last but not least, almost 4 years in Hong Kong as a consultant to the Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC).

I have also worked on the FR & WHR as a volunteer.

If anybody wants to know about any Bure Valley Railway issues, please do not hesitate to post them. Both good and bad.

David Barnes.

Welcome to the forum David,
Your career is certainly an interesting one, I for one would like to know more about it (especially the latter part.) I went to the Bure Valley when I was quite young, so I might just have to revisit at some point in the near future ;)
I hope your stay here is a long and pleasant one,

Craig,

It may have been at the Ratty Arms :)

But may also have been at the rear end of a train that was hauled by a red engine out of tunnel at Aylsham, one late evening as it was getting dark. :ph43r:
