Having recently come into some free time now that i have finished studying for my degree. I have been fortuatos to find this forum through Mick Thorntons Fotopic site. (Some model layouts that i'm connected with apeared).

Just to intoroduce myself I am current what you may term a Jack of all trades volunteer at the 7.25 Moors Valley Railway in dorset. ( Driver, signalman + general dogsbody) and have been so for nearly 8 years (where has the time gone).

The railway has recently added a new carrage shed which has doubled our undercover storage capacity, this has allowed us to move all stock undercover, however with volunteers and staff still building new items space is still at a premium.

The latest workshop project is a steam locomotive in a baldwin outline based on lyn (Lynton and Barnstable). However this is taking time as operational locomotive maintenance obviously takes priority and can take a great deal of time being that the current stud is 16 steam engines, 2 diesels and one awaiting heavy overhall.

Regular events are held thoughout the year and I will now endevour to keep this stie updated. The next such event is a Tank Engine Day on the 11th of November.

Welcome to the forum Stu, glad I was of some use in enabling you to find it! ;)

If you are patient whilst I can get a round tuit, you and yours will inevitably make an appearance on my fotopic site, as I must have several hundred Tarrant Valley snaps alone that will eventually find their way into the albums!
:D

While we're at it - you may already know, but in case you don't the Friday film on The Railway Channel is on the Moors Valley and "stars" Steve Green as well as Jim. Still accessible as "yesterday's film" when I checked earlier.

Stu,

Welcome to the MRW Forums. Nice to have you here, and someone from Moors Valley aswell.

Was down there this April (if I remember correctly) and the carraige sheds were being constructed.

I'll have to dig out my pics from that visit.

Thanks
Peter

Welcome, Stu. My only visit to Moors Valley a couple of years ago was for some research, coinciding with the Tinkerbell Weekend. I was allowed to "play" signalman at Kingsmere East for a while, really enjoyed it. :D

Didn't have a ride though... ... :( Shame, will have to.

Cheers,

Dom Greenop
