A museum dedicated to Miniature Railway is a great idea, and Cleethorpes would be a very suitable venue.

rhyl's got one dedicated to the railway why doesn't everyone have a small museum on their railway it make it so much easier to find out about the history of their particular railway

Can't disagree with this one and indeed, Chris and I are setting one up at Scarborough specifically for Scarborough.

However, not all railways still exist and the concept of a collection dedicated to the cause would provide a source of information for the future. Perrygrove is becoming the recognised location for Heywood artefacts and that is down to Michael Croft's and James Waterfield's enthusiasm for the subject matter.

Cleethorpes has the land available to build such a museum and perhaps the most important thing, the will for it to happen.

The story of miniature railways, both private and commercial need telling on a general basis to make sure that things are not lost in the future, or engines are exported, or as Chris and I do, import them!

Anyway, this subject is now being debated elsewhere.

"Margaret" left the NRM for assessment in October and her boiler has just passed its hydraulic test. The running gear has been run on air with no issues. On with the reassembly.

I had heard noises being made about this already just a thought Anthony is Margaret considered part of the collection or more a item of plant like the 08s ect the museum has.

i say this as the loco was built for use in the museum and was built at the museum

Part of the collection as one of the 08s is - and therefore under my wing as it were.

I was there in early January and Little Giant, Taw and Owain Glyndwr were on display, but in a very dark corner and with no interpretation boards. Despite a freezing cold day with howling gales, the 7 1/4" line outside was loading full trains just after the lunch break.

I wanted a big diesel, but not quite as big as the other one!

I think reading between the lines that too many questions to Anthony could compromise his position with the NRM. He may know things that he can't divulge for one reason or another. Perhaps the best way to find out things regarding the NRM collection is to write to the person Anthony named in an earlier post. If Anthony feels he has to resign from the forum because he could be compromised by questions asked of him on this forum we would ll be poorer for it. Or perhaps I have misunderstood the situation?

They all have a future - and thanks for understanding Derek, I will not compromise my position on here as many now know, but it does no harm for an NRM employee to be on forums to at least show that there are railway enthusiasts on the payroll - and MRWF is the tamest of the lot!

I will answer questions as publicly as I can, and thus there is a plan for each loco at the moment - and all will be made clear in due course.

If all is well, Taw will leave the NRM tomorrow for assessment before steaming again, but should be on display at Harrogate first over the weekend.
