Nice pictures the railway looks well. I missed the event due to not going anywhere because of job situation but things seem to be improving. I was offered a lift with a regular Yorkshire member of large white van fame - it would have been interesting to meet.

I know you where joking last week. i dont have the room am staritng my new layout in 0n30 at the moemnt allthough a o9 feeder may make a apperence
the ardent On30 modeller sticks his head up.

If you want a loco recommendation, buy the Bachmann Climax. Working inside Stephensons valve gear is such a nice feature on a loco no more expensive than a OO scale one!

A fortnight ago the owner of a real 15" gauge line mentioned my lack of loco coaling facilities or coal wagons, so the lads have knocked something up from spare wheelsets and axle boxes! Buffers are pure sillyness based on finding some already cut about Knightwing buffer beams in the bits box. Should be ready for Retford...

Don't worry, I have plenty of coal, there are houses on our street still burning the stuff and some very careless coalmen ;)

A couple of sesions in the paintshop and the loco coal wagon is ready to roll, or would be if it wasn't going to be a static feature!

Sacks are by Black Dog Mining, the coal is the real deal from the careless coalman ;)

I was going to try and source some 3mm buffer heads but I do rather like the idea of having them missing...

Looking good, is it supposed to look like the sutton coal wagon? (even down to the missing buffers!) or is it purely coincidental?

Given that at the time of the suggestion, and for the day(s) that followed, I was stood very close to the Sutton wagon, there may well be an influence ;) Size wise it is shorter, probably closer to the two small grey wagons on the CCLR.

The coal wagon has finally made it onto the layout, as spotted by this photographer. We really must have words with him about standing on the roof of the caravan, it won't take the weight...

But he takes such nice photos...

Finally, a reminder, Shifting Sands makes its final public appearance for the forseeable future on 21st/22nd November at the Retford Model Railway Exhibition, details here: http://www.bnnrs.net/show.html

And you did rather like the model of 'Bonnie Dundee' when you saw it at York  Looking forward to seeing any progress that you make on an 0-9 layout. Hopefully will start on mine after Christmas.

Sorry Jordan! A senior moment. Will try to bring it when we are likely to meet up.
