Serkane's ship cruised over the jungle. Serkane kept an eye on his navigation system, and turned to Tetroneaque. "All right, Tetroneaque, is this the place? I'm not sure exactly what kind of energy we need to be searching for... however, the environment around here seems to match up with your story. Especially that crater over there..." he says, pointing towards a rather obvious hole in the ground. Ezkuro sat back. "You sure there aren't any groundshakers around here?" "Earthshakers, and they're pretty territorial. I doubt any have moved into the area. Besides, the rangers around here have training that lets them take down Earthshakers without killing them. If things get dangerous, we'll get to the ship. " |

"Yeah. That looks like the place." Tetroneaque said a bit sheepishly as he recognized the massive crater left by his lab's weaponry. It looked much worse from the air than it had from the ground. It almost resembled a sort of canyon. The small white building nearby would be easy to miss, as the eye was simply drawn to the desolate scar instead. Tetroneaque spotted some small forms moving near the building and crater, along with a few vehicles and then frowned. "I think we have company... are they on our side? Please say they're on our side." Tetroneaque said pleadingly. He couldn't tell from their current altitude. Maybe they're just the local government... I mean that one guy did help me get from my lab to that city. I'm sure he probably told the local law keepers about my appearance... right? |

Ly1yth made sure to not talk too much during the trip. She had annoyed more than one supervisor simply talking about what came to her mind, of course this usually involved statistics and diagnostics from the ship. That kind of stuff interested her, but she didn't talk too much, she didn't want to screw this up. She was down to a very thin list of those who haven't refused to work with her yet. She didn't know if she was annoying or not, but she just wanted to keep quiet for now. But she had spend time inside the ships systems, simply observing everything about it, trying to find out all the little secrets that maybe the owner didn't even know. Ly1yth had successfully hacked into the systems of the ship and was capable of taking full control if it was necessary. She had gotten mean looks when her hacking was discovered, but she managed to get in without the others noticing her presence in the ship. It was hard for her to resist... she was bored. The pink hologram was just sitting on the control panel of the ships. In actuality the drone had it's 6 thin legs extended out and was just perched on the ledge. But no one could see it unless they looked really close at it. But they seemed more concerned with finding the lab rather than if Ly1yth was hacking into the system or the location of the drone incase she was planning on doing something she wasn't supposed to do. Ly1yth knew that it was her tenancy of causing headaches... but that was what she was built for in the first place. She snapped to attention from messing around in the systems as Serkane started to talk, "All right, Tetroneaque, is this the place? I'm not sure exactly what kind of energy we need to be searching for... however, the environment around here seems to match up with your story. Especially that crater over there..." Ezkuro snapped back, it was pretty funny to watch them bicker. It was odd how sentients never seemed to get along, but it was one of the things that Ly1yth never quite understood about sentients, "You sure there aren't any groundshakers around here?" It was a bit of assurance that Serkane knew about where they were going, "Earthshakers, and they're pretty territorial. I doubt any have moved into the area. Besides, the rangers around here have training that lets them take down Earthshakers without killing them. If things get dangerous, we'll get to the ship. " Ly1yth wondered why Tetroneaque wasn't acting quite normal. He was looking out the window, either he was curious or something didn't seem quite right. Ly1yth was a bit curious to find out how his technology works. Chances are she would be able to hack into his archives and pretty much keep anything she wanted for herself. She didn't have to tell Tetro... she didn't want to get him angry at her too. But it would always be nice to keep a few things for herself every once in awhile. Finally he looked over to the group and spoke, "Yeah. That looks like the place. I think we have company... are they on our side? Please say they're on our side." Ly1yth didn't expect for there to be hostiles, but she always wanted to be sure. She closed her eyes for a moment, switching her sight to one of the external scanners. There were several squads and a few armored vehicles moving in a column towards the site. It didn't look much like they have sighted the vessel quite yet. But Ly1yth noticed something that sparked her interest. She kept her eyes closed while speaking, "Hey I've been using the scanners to sneak a peek at our company... and they have a command vehicle. Give me a second and I'll see if I can break into they're systems and maybe pick up some of they're chatter or orders." She kept her eyes closed. She always did that while she was actively concentrating on another task. It was a habit that she picked up from sentient. She spoke again, "Just give it a second and it'll come in over the comm system... they have good protection but it's nothing I haven't seen before." Ly1yth would eventually break in, it would just take a few seconds. And her eyes snapped open, a smile on her face, "Alright I'm in." She was just exited for a chance to prove what she could do... |

Serkane looked closely at them. "Guys, I think those are Oxtor vehicles. We'd better be careful. Oxtor are pretty dangerous, they're physically weak but they can morph their bodies and have technology capable of hiding their heat signatures and render themselves nearly invisible to most conventional detection systems, and can even hide weaponry in the folds of their skin. If you guys see a tree you didn't see there five seconds ago, be careful. " Serkane landed the ship. "Let's hope they haven't gone inside the lab yet. Tetroneaque, you go inside and do whatever it is you need to do. Ezkuro and I will defend it from intruders. Ly1yth, use your hacking abilities and go nuts. " |

Tetroneaque did not like the sound of any of that explanation, his ears drooped down making it quite hard to hide his feelings on the matter. He was determined to make sure that no one used his technology against him and his new friends though. "Just get me to the main entrance. It should still be locked and only my retina scan can open those doors. Hopefully these creatures didn't bring any heavy artillery with them to force the doors open." That was all he said on the matter, since he was pretty sure no small arms fire or even hand held explosive devices would have been able to penetrate the armor on those particular doors. They were after all provided by his home world's government and meant to survive practically anything, just like the rest of the lab. "I'll just download all the schematics of my inventions into one of the lab's spare data crystals then erase everything... oh wait... the armory is still there. You guys want some new toys to play with? I think there were still some malestrom grenades, a couple spread needlers, a sonic disruptor, and an experimental gravity cannon." He said counting items off on his fingers. Most of that stuff was seriously dangerous, but the gravity cannon was excessively more so. |

Ezkuro grinned a little too widely when he heard the words "gravity cannon" "Oh, I am so calling dibs on the gravity cannon!" he said. Serkane sighed. "Ezkuro, I really don't think that's such a good idea... He did say 'experimental'. That means there's a chance it won't work right. " "So?" "...Or it could backfire. I'm not sure how well-tested it is, but if there's even the slightest chance it could explode or something, I'm not touching it. Tetroneaque, what would you recommend? " |

"Well the sonic disruptor is a nice choice. It totally ignores armor, sending a powerful pulse of pure sound at a target in a focused cone of fire. It can liquefy someone inside a tank on the highest setting, or just knock someone out on the lowest. The malestrom grenades basically cause any organic matter caught in the blast radius to change into anti matter, which then explodes. Very very messy. The spread needlers are probably the least dangerous. They only fire high velocity projectiles in a rather large area, able to penetrate most body armor with the three inch long projectiles... which then explode inside the target." Tetroneaque scratched behind one of his ears and kind of looked away before going on. "The gravity cannon should work. Its the third prototype of the hand held version. All the ship based and larger models all work perfectly, the hand held ones though seem prone to overloading and well... have ya ever seen what happens to someone who is suddenly put under ten tons of pressure? Not pretty. Thank the Nine I've only let robotic lab assistants test them out. This one should have all the kinks worked out, and I'm like ninety-eight percent sure it shouldn't kill whoever is using it." Tetroneaque didn't want his new friends to think he was some sort of mad scientist or psychopath bent on destroying everything. He was just building weapons like his own government had commissioned him to do. "Anyway, we don't want any of those items falling into enemy hands. Even if they don't reverse engineer any of them to mass produce, even a handful of those weapons would prove devastating in this galaxy from what I've seen of all of your weapons... no offense." |

Serkane nodded. "None taken. All right, our top priority should be guarding the weapons. Is there anything you want us to know before we take them? I doubt it's more complicated than pointing the weapon at something and pulling the trigger, but I want to be sure. Anyway, we're going to have to proceed on foot. " He landed the ship and opened the doors. "Let's go. By the way, since the Rebellion would probably get their hands on one of the weapons sooner or later, we probably ought to find out ways of guarding against them. Just something you ought to consider in the future, Tailchaser. " |

While the sentient's were talking about the inventions of the Kitsuni it almost looked like Ly1yth was sleeping. Her hologram was lying down on the control panel and the hologram had it's eyes closed. Ly1yth barely registered the conversation. Not because she was trying to relax... but because of the last words that one of the sentient had spoken to her minutes ago, "Ly1yth, use your hacking abilities and go nuts." Ly1yth had simply let go of meat space. But now she had her full attention on a reality that very few people could see... and none could master. Ly1yth saw everything in a different view, even looking at the ship was something that the human brain would have a near impossible time trying to cope with, it was all full of icons, or avatars, all of these represented a system and another thing for Ly1yth to hack into and toy with. But instead of simply causing mischief like she normally did. But she was toying with the systems belonging to the soldiers... Ly1yth's only connection to meat space was in the form of cameras located on the soldiers and in several of the vehicles unmanned turrets. But while Ly1yth could have diced many of the soldiers with the many weapons mounted on the vehicles. But Ly1yth didn't want to ruin the element of surprise, chances are if they knew that there was an AI messing around with they're systems things would get a lot harder for Ly1yth to actually be of any use. But what she did do was get a complete log of every soldier, all of their weapons, equipment, even such minor details as the names of their family members. Ly1yth was literally designed for picking out and sorting through information for those few nuggets of useful stuff. But she wanted to make sure that she had everything possible. Her thin grip on reality noted that the Kistuni was taking a lot about what was in his lab, apparently he wanted to make sure that this information didn't fall into the wrong hands. And that reminded Ly1yth of her own dirty little plan. Ly1yth wanted to try and make sure that she had all of these tidbits of information. It was a bit more for the sake of having this information when Ly1yth wanted to turn it against it's user. Ly1yth noticed that the ship had landed, mainly due to the status icons of the landing gear rather then anything that was in meat space. Ly1yth was a little hesitant to return from cyberspace, where she couldn't do nearly as much, but the hologram snapped up from where it was lying. She hurried up a bit to catch up with the sentients, they were apparently a bit too exited to remember Ly1yth, but she didn't mind it. She was rather silent for once, and that was a big change. Most people that Ly1yth had worked with in the past always tried to snap Ly1yth out of her little trance because that usually meant that she was going to make something go wrong just for laughs. But she walked out into the jungle and her holographic started to twitch a bit, she never felt quite right when there wasn't too many systems for her to hack into. It was nature... it just bothered her. Ly1yth simply turned off the hologram, knowing that stealth might come in handy and a glowing hologram was rather obvious. The drone that was the real Ly1yth gently landed on Tetroneaque's shoulder, the metal legs making it look a bit like a large insect rather then an AI. Ly1yth just began to tell the others some of the information she had recovered, "They have several squads of soldiers, and they're well armed and armored, plus they have several combat vehicles that make a head on attack rather impossible... and I wasn't paying too mcuh attention to your conversation but I did pick up you being sure that you're door will hold... and that might not be too accurate... They have a lot of high yield breaching charges... those things are made to scuttle and tear appart capital ships and they have plenty of them so they are pretty much heavy artillery. And even if all of those charges don't get into the door almost all of the soldiers have plasma cutters and can get into it with time." Ly1yth's drone looked around a bit, the single camera eye shifting back and fourth quite nervously. She just continued with her tactile brief, "They have roughly 67% of the soldiers setting up a perimeter. That and I got into some of the commander's chatter, they have reinforcements waiting in heavy gunships ready to come in should the first force be killed. So I suggest that we use a backdoor... Tetrahedron hopefully there is one right... and I really think that a direct confrontation be avoided. Because I don't think charging after light tanks will be too good of an Idea... oh yea I forgot to mention that they have light tanks." Ly1yth knew that the situation was rather stacked against them... but if she wasn't here the two would have blundered into heavy resistance so at least she was being useful... |

Tetroneaque suddenly became a lot less enthusiastic about their mission once he heard Lylyth's analysis of the situation. Tetroneaque's ears laid down against his head as his worry began to show. "Th-they have an entire army! How did they get past the local law enforcement agencies! I mean a few ships of soldiers sure... but tanks!? Heavy gunships!?! Are you sure we're on a friendly held planet?" He asked incredulously. Things certainly sounded hopeless to say the least. "Is there any way we might get back up or something?" He asked, not knowing if it would be possible to signal for reinforcements without alerting the enemy already here. He wasn't a military strategist, he was just a weapons scientist who was in way over his head. |

Serkane shrugged and opened his PDM. "I guess that's the problem with such fast travel. You can move entire armies across the reaches of space before they know what hit them. I'll try to request some hel-" there was an error message on the PDM. "They're blocking the signal? Great... Ly1th, new plan. By any means necessary, get that signal unblocked. That too much trouble for you? I really don't have a very good idea of your abilities. " Ezkuro grasped his weapon. "Well, let's see what those babies can do, why don't we?" "Yes, I'm sure those new weapons would help, but I doubt they'd be able to stand up to all of them. No, we'll need backup... To answer your question, Tetroneaque, most of our military is staged in major cities and the like. No one really visits this place except for tourists who want to be close to nature... Besides, this section of the woods isn't near any nature trails, so the point is moot. About the only way I can see the military noticing is if one of our satellites sees the enemy army... " He realized something else. "Tetroneaque, is there any way we could make contact with the outside world? It doesn't really matter who we reach, it'll probably reach the army. " |

"If we can get into my lab we could hold out there for weeks if need be. It was a very important government facility before I... ya know... blew it through space. Anyway, it has some powerful broadcast equipment for anything you might need. The only problem is that the main generator didn't make the jump so the base is stuck back up power. If we got inside we'd probably only have enough energy to send out one very strong three minute broadcast over all communications channels. Since the systems in my lab are quite different than the rest of this galaxy's we'd have to simply blast the communication over all channels. That would mean darn near anyone would be able to track the signal, friends and foes alike." He explained. A sudden idea came to him then. "Lylyth, do you think you can infiltrate my lab's system? The perimeter has some rather potent defensive weapons. If you took control over any of those and targeted the enemy vehicle where they're holding those explosive charges I think it might prove a big enough distraction for us to make it to the front door and inside. What do you all think about that?" He asked, not really sure how good his plan was. It sounded reasonable to him, but then again he wasn't a soldier who knew alot about strategy on the field. |

Ly1yth loved these sentients, that was for sure. They liked it when she messed around with the systems of those around her, not condemning her for doing even the most simply "modifications" to whatever computer systems she could get her thin hands on. They actually saw her as useful and that made her happy. But apparently her words made the Kitsuni's mood turn to something rather grim, apparently he didn't seem too happy about what Ly1yth had said about the odds, "Th-they have an entire army! How did they get past the local law enforcement agencies! I mean a few ships of soldiers sure... but tanks!? Heavy gunships!?! Are you sure we're on a friendly held planet? Is there any way we might get back up or something?" But before Ly1yth could answer the question one of the pair that normally spent their time bickering spoke up before Ly1yth could, "I guess that's the problem with such fast travel. You can move entire armies across the reaches of space before they know what hit them. I'll try to request some hel-" He suddenly looks rather confused, trying to key something into his PDM that Ly1yth had already broken into, it didn't have much in the terms of defense, but he looked rather confused, "They're blocking the signal? Great... Ly1th, new plan. By any means necessary, get that signal unblocked. That too much trouble for you? I really don't have a very good idea of your abilities. " If Ly1yth's hologram was still showing her face would be rather offended. She didn't like being treated like a communicator drone with legs, just because she could hack almost anything that ran on energy didn't mean he could boss her around. But Ly1yth didn't bother to express her anger... Ly1yth fazed out of meat space for a moment, endless streams of data flowing past her as she let her grip on reality fade away and go into a realm in which she was much more powerful. She was trying to find out what the enemies compatibilities were. Her audio pickups barely registered the rest of the sentiment's talking, Ly1yth knew what they were saying, and it was all logged in her database, so she could recall it when it was needed, but for now she wanted to make sure that the enemy didn't know that they were there and Ly1yth wanted to know the extent of her control over their systems. She pulled herself back into meat space once he Kitsuni called her name, "Lylyth, do you think you can infiltrate my lab's system? The perimeter has some rather potent defensive weapons. If you took control over any of those and targeted the enemy vehicle where they're holding those explosive charges I think it might prove a big enough distraction for us to make it to the front door and inside. What do you all think about that?" Finally Ly1yth's drone tapped Tetroneaque on the arm, just to get his attention like the sentient do. She spoke in a tone that was rather soft, she didn't want to make the sentient's concerned with her words like she did before, "Alright alright alright... give me a second to explain everything, first off Serkane, the only way I can get a transmission out is by hijacking the comm array in the command vehicle out side of the doors... it's the only long range comm systems that AREN'T being jammed. And if I um... *ahem* "borrowed" their systems they would know it and if they're trained AT ALL they can trace it back to me and we'd be dead. The little drone turned to face Tetroneaque, it wasn't that noticeable considering she was only the size of someone's palm, "And Tetroneaque I'm glad to hack into your lab's systems... I've already made my way in, but I wasn't too sure if you'd approve. But apparently incinerating the earthshaker made sure that the forces closing in on the lab knew the presence of the defenses, so I checked the defense turrets and most of them are offline, must've be an EMP charge or something like that but they're not coming online unless you go in meat space and fix it... that and chances are they'd notice something's off." Ly1yth kind of started to show off her knowledge, but it was all for the better so she continued, "That and those breaching charges, meaning they're made of Detonite." Detonite is a descendant of 20th century C4 explosives, Ly1yth knew this and continued to explain how the little plan wouldn't quite work as expected, "And because Detonite only... um... detonates with the electric charge of the detonator simply shooting at them won't set them off." Ly1yth's expression changed to something a bit more positive, she gave a reassuring smile to show that all was not lost, but then she remembered that no one could see her face because she was what looked like a small metal insect, "BuuUuut there is a golden lining to all of this, Tetroneaque I can pull up the blueprints of the place but I don't quite know your language, I can only read the binary to get inside the systems. If you know where one of the entrances to the ventilation systems are I can shut off the fans, the door will take quite awhile to get through, they'll have to take they're time to make sure that the thing blows up right so we'll have time. How about we sneak in, get the data and sneak out. That way we won't have to be shot at with light tanks. At most we face some isolated infantry." Edited by Ly1yth, Oct 25 2008, 11:02 PM.

Serkane groaned. "As much as I hate to let an invasion of my home planet go unpunished, I suppose all we can do is to delay them. One of us needs to hold them off while the other gets as much data as possible. If we want to keep them from reverse-engineering your weapons, though, we're going to have to destroy them. By the time reinforcements arrive they'll already have had time to take them to where they can analyze them. Even if we just got rid of a few key components they wouldn't be able to reverse-engineer a working model. Of course, I'm operating on the assumption that we'd be able to do it all and not get killed. If I had some blueprints it'd probably be easier. " |

"I don't even know if this galaxy's computers would be able to use the data from my lab's systems. Data crystals were relatively new in my system, don't know if yall have them yet." He said, thinking out loud. "If we can just get the main computer's data crystal that would have all the data of my projects, I'd hate to lose all that work." He added. "As for the weapons, I don't mind destroying them if we can't get them out." Then he added, "I never really like making weapons..." but it was very much under his breath. Something occurred to him suddenly and his ears perked back up. "Oh, Lylyth! If you need some help understanding my race's language and dialects just tap into the little translator in my ear. It's been helping me convert my language into this galaxy's and vice versa. It should be helpful, just don't tap into the orange link please as that is sort of tapped into the linguistics part of my brain...I'd rather not start babbling like an idiot okay?" He stated, hoping he could help in any way possible. |
