When we last left our Adventures!

When we last left Winters, Elias, Tyroth, Verdant, and Blue both they and a bundle of thieves -- including: Moon, a magical girl bunny who'd come with Winters' parents; some ninja; a company of Easy Puffs; a gang of Puffballs; and (technically) Elena -- each of whom wanted the unicorn-head shaped gilding that Winters had been hiding for their own purposes were playing a game of Snatch-and-Run when a fish, summoned by Elias's grandpa as part of some family testing ritual, ate it and started flying away.
Meanwhile Melog and Hope were still giving the tour to Winters' parents when they ran across the action.
Also meanwhile Jim had arrived for some unknown purpose and had been roped into playing Alison's love interest -- part of a scheme to fool Winters' parents into thinking she was Winters' bonded companion so they'd stop trying to set her up -- when they ran into the final thief: a squirrel in a mage's cloak who claimed to be from some benevolent secret organization. To their surprise he and Jim know each other!

Jim: So you're saying agents have been dying left and right with no good explanation while on missions to recover book-related artifacts which turn out to be part of some ancient collection and this gilding that Winters has is the final piece?
Agent 81: There's no doubt: records indicate a group of TIME adventurers repossessed it from an evil queen on a trip to Dis-neigh.
Alison: "Repossessed"? Is that some fancy spy talk for "stole".
Agent 81: No: the queen was badly in debt. They were having a slump in the rich widower market.
Jim: So they sent you?
Agent 81: Nonsense, Jim: I wasn't even born back then.
Jim: I meant--
Agent 81: I'm sorry, Jim, but this mission is time-sensitive.
Jim: How do you figure that?
*sounds of violence and explosions*
Agent 81: Because it's only a matter of time before those yahoos destroy the darn thing.
|Rampant||Feb 9 2012, 10:34 PM Post #4|
Hope: Shouldn't you complete the tour before haring off?
Melog: Level 1.1 disturbance sufficient to override level .3 command: tour. If situation elevates to 1.3 or higher baby unit will return to area : Room.
Hope: What about lord and Lady day?
Melog: The lock on your door would eat them, they should probably use the escape pods. *Pulls out a machine gun and joins the chase.*
Agent 81: Very little time.

Elias was climbing on the roof of one the thin towers sticking out of the Artifact. The reason for this was that guppy fish was currently resting besides the weathercock at the apex of the tower
Elias: Why am I doing this? I don't even care about the d@mn gilding
Tyroth and Elena were overlooking Elias' climb from the tower windows bellow.
Tyroth: You lost it, you take it back
Elena: It's just kind of important, okay?
With a last bit of effort, Elias reached the top, only to find he wasn't alone. Someone had been climbing the tower from the other side as well.
Puffball with Gatling Gun: PUFF!
Elena: Oh dear!
Meanwhile, the guppy fish decided it was done resting and started swimming back to the Artifact, heading back in the direction where Winter's parents and Melog were currently at.
|MINI||Feb 11 2012, 04:56 PM Post #6|
Elias: Hits a flat surface of metal about 20' down, bouncing a few times off the ARTIFACT itself. Each bounce makes another loud metallic sound and probably results in a good bruising on his bum.
The Puffballs climb the apex and look over, firing guns relentlessly so that a shower of gunfire whizzes past Tyroth and Elena. The guppie is rapidly swimming in the other direction, oblivious to the shower of gunfire that just misses it as Melog's eyes widen to the oncoming guppie that is slowly and strangely enlarging in size from that of a mere guppie to more of a shark. Its size is still increasing rather exponentially and if its growth doesn't stop it could become as big as the ARTIFACT itself.
Hope: "Look out!"
Elias: "I'm falling and I can't get up! Life Alert save me!"
Melog: "We have to catch Moby Guppie?" referring to the guppie, shark whale thingie
|SilvercatMoonpaw||Feb 11 2012, 08:55 PM Post #7|
Melog: Initiative Protocol: Kaij Fight.
Hope: Uh oh.
Hope: Her programming's all confused: she's remembering giant robot days and thinking she can transform! She'll be creamed!
Tyroth (trying to rip up a nearby stone shed): Maybe if we throw something at it it'll get scared and go away!
Hope: At the rate that thing is growing it'll outgrow any object we could throw at it. We'd need to throw something that can put out more kinetic energy than we put into it!
Blue: .......................Toss me.
The guppy-whale opens its mouth as it bears down on Melog.....
......when there is a resounding THONG as a ripple rips through its whole body from an impact.
Pony Blue starts falling.
Pony Blue: Okay, someone catch me!
Gets caught by a leaping Melog.
Pony Blue: Thanks.
Pony Blue: Please don't pony fangirl on me.
Melog: Such ordinance I have never seen!
Pony Blue: I can't tell if this is better.
Meanwhile the guppy coughs up the gilding then rapidly shrinks back to its original size. Moon catches the MacGuffin on the way down, pursued by Easy Puff paratroopers.

Locust: *chasing Moon with a half eaten tea kettle* Get back here! You weren't done basting!
Moon: *begins running faster*
Tyroth: *steps in her way* Oh no you-*Moon easily clears him* don't?
Elena: After her!
Lord Day: Does this happen often?
Hope: Only...twice a day, I'd say?

Easy Puff Commander: UNLEASH THE PUDDING VATS!
Easy Puffs: DA ZE!
A thick slurry of confectionery goo spills out across the path, the unfortunate Moon heading straight for it a she descended. Reacting quickly she clicked her heels, activating her shoes, but far too late. The levitation did not reverse her downward momentum before she found herself knee deep in cold and sticky, yet delicious, doom.
Easy Puff Commander: Excellent work! Now just grab the gilding before-
Puffball Commando: *YOINK*
Easy Puff Commander:
|SilvercatMoonpaw||Feb 13 2012, 02:35 PM Post #10|
Agent 81: Hold it! In the name of an organization which I am not allowed to divulge the name of--
Agent 81: --yes, CONTROL...Jim! That piece of information is for agent ears only! Next you'll be telling them that's just the cover name and no one knows what the real one is.
Puffball Commando: Puff puff?
Agent 81: Of course not: I have a highly disciplined mind. It would be impossible for me to let highly sensitive information like that accidentally slip in the middle of a conversation..... Hold on: how did you know?
ninja (wearing paper puffball mask): (sidles up to puffball commando) Puff, er, puff puuff?
Puffball Commando: Puff. (hands over the gilding)
Agent 81: I warn you, puffy: my paws are deadly weapons.
Agent 81: Okay, but don't say I didn't warn you. *punch*
Puffball Commando: (bounces off)
Agent 81: Uh, say, I hope I wasn't out of line with that "puffy" crack --
Puffball Commando: PUFF! (points grenade launches right into Agent 81's face)
Elena: Yoink. Okay, Winters: tell us everything you know about this.
Winters: (takes a look) To start, it's an excellent forgery of the original--
Agent 81: Let me see. (takes the gilding from Winters and looks at it with a magnifying glass) Uh-huh. Yep, this is definitely a forgery.
Alison: Well how can you tell?
Agent 81: Well, my dear, my keen eye notes that the jewel used in the eye is not producing as many rainbow refractions. My keen nose tells me that the alloy used in its construction contains a hint of aluninum, a metal too rare at the time to be wasted on ornimentation. My keen sense of touch notes the whole object is too rigid.
Winters: Also there's a maker's mark dated last week on the back.
Agent 81: Yes, well, I was just getting to that.
Elias: (points at the puffball) Ha ha! She pulled a fast one on you!
Puffball Commando: PUUUFFFFFFF!!!!
Everyone turns back to the pudding to find on Moon's shoes and stockings.
Melog: I am not detecting her presence on any operative Artifact sensors.
Alison: And you know what that means.
Agent 81: Yes: her legs will be very cold swimming back.
Spoiler: click to toggle
|Rampant||Feb 14 2012, 10:18 PM Post #11|
Melog: *heads towards the water to swim after Moon*
Alison: Wait up the rest of us can't swim and just once I'd like to try finding out what's going on before we break everything.
Melog: *turns around and grabs the Days* Shall I interrogate them or do we skip straight show tunes?
|SilvercatMoonpaw||Feb 15 2012, 12:19 PM Post #12|
Winters: That won't work.
Melog: Oh I'm quite sure--
Winters: They like showtunes.
Melog stares at the Days, then puts them down like they're radioactive nitroglycerine.
Lord Day: I must say I have no idea what you are going on about, but if you wish to learn more about Miss Moon then we shall be more than happy to oblige.
Lady Day: She was introduced to us by a mutual family friend who teaches at Grand Vault Skills and Magic Academy here in Crosstown.
Alison: Skills and Magic?
Blue: "Adventurer" back when it was respectable.
Lord Day: He said he had met her while giving a guest lecture at Lune Shoujo--
Winters: Which is also located here in Crosstown.
Lord Day: --and he discreetly noticed that she was *ahem* having trouble attracting a bonded companion.
Alison: Then I guess we head to Lune Shoujo.
Verdant: I'd still like to find out who the various puffs were working for. If we don't count Elena's paranoia--
Elena: I had perfectly good suspicions.
Verdant: --that's five different secret groups.
Jim: I can vouch for CONTROL: they're a weird bunch, but they're generally on the side of Good.
Verdant: We should trust someone who only ever shows up mysteriously and doesn't really explain what they are doing?
Blue: You can ignore Green: she just doesn't want to get caught in Crosstown.
Kay: What's so bad in Crosstown?
Elias: There was something about her mother--
Verdant: Don't mention her, she might hear you.
Lord Day: Your mother lives in Crosstown? You do remind me of someone.....
Verdant: (tries to sneak away)
Lord Day: Oh now I recall: you're Yellow's little girl.
Verdant: *big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!*
Lord Day: ........You aren't? I could swear with that form and a name based on a color you were related.
Tyroth: Hold on, hold on, I'm picking up the Winters thread here: was this Yellow the one who introduced Moon to you?
Lady Day: As a matter-of-fact she was.
Alison: Then we go to her first.
Verdant (cowering behind Blue): Hide me.
|Monday||Feb 15 2012, 01:23 PM Post #13|
Elias: Nobody has explained to me why the gilding was so d@mn important I had to risk my life for it in the first place yet .
Elena: I'm not really certain why it's important either
Tyroth: We're really just working on the basis "they want it so we can't let them have it" right now.
Elias: *Grabs Winters* *Lifts her up to eye hight* Winters, is there something you haven't told us about the gilding and your book ?
Winters: It feels like I've done something bad but I can't figure out what.

Lady Day: My word....Winters....are these people saying.......what I think they're saying?
Winters: They are but don't get your hopes up.
Elena: Don't get their hopes up? Didn't you find the magic front-piece to your book? The one that allows it to fly and....um, various other stuff?
Winters: It's the right piece, but it's not magic. Well, not any more magic than any other piece of ordinary matter--
Verdant: Skip the physics lecture.
Winters: Certainly! Short version: our legend had it backwards all this time: the gilding wasn't made to protect the book. The book was made to protect the gilding.
Agent 81: Of course: it's so simple any fool could see the solution..........What's the solution?
Winters: The gilding is the important piece. Making an indestructible object to attach it to assures it's not likely to get damaged. Plus it looks rather natural.
Agent 81: There, you see? Perfectly obvious.
Jim: So the unicorn head is part of this ancient collection.........Collection of what?
Agent 81: Puzzle pieces.
Alison: Don't tell me: when put together they form a map showing the way to a powerful artifact that would be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands.
Agent 81: Puzzle pieces that when put together form a map showing the way to a powerful artifact that would be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands.
Alison: I told you not to tell me.
