All alcoholic drinks will be replaced with non-alcoholic (Definition:Drinks containing less than 0.5% alchohol by vol) versions of the same drink without altering taxation. This will improve public health, reduce costs to the NHS and also result in people taking less days of work due to sickness improving the economy. The alchohol industry can pay for it to compensate for all the money they've cost the government.

This Bill has recieved Royal Assent

Studies have shown that some alcoholic drinks can be healthy for people of a particular age.

Also, alcohol consumption is not something which ought to be enforced...maybe it would recieve my support if it were to be LOWERING alcohol pbv, not cutting it out altogether.

(And I'm teetotal...)

Though true, it's only in small amounts where this is applicable. People don't drink alcohol in small amounts generally. They drink to get drunk, something that takes a large amount. What's more, with Alcohol banned the average life expectance of the whole country will increase because there would be no more alcohol related injuries, like Drink Driving (and crashing).

I agree with your points, as I said, I'm teetotal.

However, people should be given the choice.

I shall oppose this bill on the following grounds:
1. I don't believe the government has any right to ban alcohol.
2. As Boo said, alcohol is used in some religious ceremonies.
3. It would be bad for the economy, at least in the short term.

i also voted against this bill for the first 2 of these reasons...

however it may actually benefit the economy, as less people take sick leave due to bad hangovers...

Yes, but the economy gets LESS money from people buying alcohol...because:

A ) nobody I know of who drinks drinks for any reason other than it being alcoholic

B ) and drinkers don't like non-alcoholic drinks

PS I voted against

But what if nobody TELLS them it's non alchoholic? It's like my dad with his tea. He always claims he only likes proper tea leaves from the pot. But if you give him tea from a bag without TELLING him he won't notice the difference.

I think the difference between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks is somewhat more noticeable than that.
