DUE to the facts that roads outside of the congestion charge zone in democratia are getting overcrowded, i have decided to put forward a bill for improvement of our public transport network in democratia. if this bill goes through: FIRSTLY we will have to nationalise the railway network in order to implement these plans. SECONDLY we will develop many new railway and tram lines throughout democratia (research shows that tram lines can cut road traffic by up to 40%) THIRDLY we will increase the efficiency of our bus services, also raising frequency during peak hours FOURTHLY we will improve punctuality, frequency and safety on all public transport links FINALLY we will see slightly reduced fairs, and an exemption of rail services from fuel taxes this bill should become self funding eventually, but shall initially be funded by a penny per gallon rise in fuel taxes, and also by very minor temporary rises in several direct taxations effect on the nation: education - little change... however some people may be able to get to school quicker and more punctually after the improvements health - roads freed up enabling for emergency services to reach their patients quicker... also, health improved thanks to reduction in pollution levels (thanks to miniyoda008 for pointing this out) economy - benefits as people are more geographically mobile, and also the new railways can be used for cheap and ecofriendly methods of transport of goods from where they are produced to where the markets are (may however be VERY temporary VERY minor losses due to very small hike in fuel tax) law and order - little effect either way other than the benefits of freeing up roads social affairs - people may be happier due to reduced road traffic and also better and more accessible public transport network... (i dont really get this catagory so assumed it to be how happy the population was with the current situation) the environment - significant improvement for many obvious reasons transport - significant improvement for many obvious reasons ~plqx~ edit: if necessary excess funds may be raised by slight import taxes... (if exilia exists that is) |

I'm supporting it as well. Also, health will be improved, as pollution will be decreased. |

*opposes bill on that point* I really don't see why they should have to be nationalised - why should the government have to micro-manage every aspect of the country? |

I'm supporting this for three main reasons. 1. It helps the enviroment 2. I like trams and trains 3. (actually also something I'm pointing out) It reduces street noise levels |

I live next to a railway and I find trains far more annoying than cars. When a car drives past you get maybe 5 seconds of noise and then its gone, also not that much noise really comes through the walls, however when a train goes past the whole house shakes and rumbles for about 30 seconds, and the noise it makes ain't that nice either. So in terms of street noise from inside the house, for me trains are far more annoying. Saying all that though, overall the bill sounds like a good idea, and it should improve the transport system. |

I don't live particularly close to a railway but I'm still woken up at night by the sound of trains blasting their horns. |

i suppose this bill is destined to fade away into nothingness... it wont be adopted and also the government wont let any of HRH's bills get put to vote - which mine is behind... also a slight bump from PAGE 2 didhe - most people dont live right next to a railway... and also, in general road traffic makes far more noise than the equivalent amount of rail traffic |
