This bill hopes to eradicate the "classist" elements of Democratian society.

Under this bill:

  • All state employees are barred from referring to people as "Upper", "Middle" or "Lower" class.
  • Industrial tribunals will find it more easier to prosecute employers who discriminate against employees/job applicants on grounds of class.
  • Re-adjusts the tax system in Democratia, to remove the distinctions between those of different social class, by doing the following:
    - Replacing the current income tax system with a flat rate of 35% for earners of all incomes, excluding those who earn less than 60% of the national average disposable income, who will be exempt.
    - Introducing a tax on inheritance with a rate of 45%. In estates where the inheritance per person is too exceed £1million (after tax), local magistrates will be consulted as to whether limits on the inheritance should be placed.

Hopefully this bill will help improve the nation. :)

But surely caring for the poor and needy, equality and the principle that you should contribute to society, not inherit your wealth, are all key socialist values?

'Tis surely the most obvious stealth bill i ever did see. I was suspicious when I read the first sentence, as you dont often propose bills and its so soon after the good of the majority act.

Despite a few token socialist gestures, this bills main aim is to repeal the good of the majority bill's tax clauses.

Not repeal, improve!

Surely by even acknowledging the existance of high earners in the Good of the Majority Bill, you are admitting defeat and betraying your values?

Under this bill, all acknowledgement of them will cease and everyone will be equal! :starcap:

The high earners will still exist, whether they be land owners, lawyers or highly paid dustmen.
The class system is based on status rather than money. Take my father, he is on a middle class wage but works in a quarry so he is working class despite what he earns becuase he is a manual labourer.

Actually, I'm thinking that this might be useful, it appears to have struck the balance that the Good of the Majority Act just missed, not because its intentions were wrong, but more because of the compromises due to discussion.

Also, it is actually a SHOCKINGLY left-wing bill, I'm surprised.

A 45% inheritance is much, much, much better than a 50% income tax. -_-
