It is time we took control of our borders and ended mass immigration into this country. We cannot cope with all the extra people. Never listen to the government on their estimates of the number of people coming into this country from eastern Europe as they are always wrong and have no clue.

As well as Britain should leave the EU as that is the main reason for the lack of control on our borders.

P.S. I don't agree with the decision to put a Scot on the Bank of England £20 note as the Scots would never allow somebody English on their notes. The Scots are trying to take over the country.

Paranoid Englishman more like.

Leave the EU? Madness.

We should be aiming to unite the world, not become segregated.

Immigration is good for a country - however rapid immigration on such as scale as we're experiancing is bad. It needs to be slowed down, and there needs to be much better intergration into British Society. Otherwise things could get out of hand and before we know it, the BNP could get a seat in parliament. The government's dodgy estimates don't help either, they just play into the hands of the far right.

Leaving the EU would harm the economy too much - that said, I think that the EU needs to review it's policy of adding new countries to the union - they need to make sure that it won't cause a mass labour migration, which could harm both the destination countries and the countries who are losing all their skilled workers.

In all honesty though, it would be difficult to physically reduce immigration - how would you decide who is allowed in and who isn't? Although I agree that the amount of immigration the UK is currently recieving is too high, I don't really see how it can be lowered.

PS: I'm not really fussed about who gets on a £20 note, as long as on the other side it's the Queen and not Blair! :P

Personally, I think there should be a Bank of the United Kingdom, then these arguments wouldn't occur. That said, 51% of Scots want independance - I don't really see why though. Not only are they currently occupying the highest roles in government, but they're also recieving money from London and they get to dump all their nuclear waste in northern England.

Still, if they do want independance, then they may as well have it - even though it would probably result in the collapse of their economy and welfare system...

Immigration can be reduced by closing the borders and simply keeping a much closer watch on who comes into the country. Our countryside is being destroyed in order to build houses for all of the immigrants. It is about time something is done! Labour just ignores the issue.

With regards to Scotland, it is unfair that Scottish MPs can vote on issues solely to do with England but English MPs cannot vote on issues to do with Scotland. As well as this drugs for improving medical treatment have been approved in Scotland, but not in England. It is absurd.

If Britain closed it's borders, the economy would collapse... -_-

But I agree with you, the current situation with Scottish MPs voting on matters that don't affect them or their constituents is absurd.

i will answer this post as i believe CC0 has done the first one justice

yes, immigration can be reduced in such ways, but with a country such as ours, attempting to close our borders would either fail or be stupid - it would take thousands of people to be full time employed doing what? nothing really.

as to our countryside being destroyed for the immigrants, most immigrants live in the cities, often in flats... our countryside is being destroyed by the british people who want to live in the countryside, not the immigrants

labour have not ignored the issue...

and our country needs immigration to keep ourselves going - the pension crisis would be hundreds of times worse if it were not for WORKING immigrants coming into our country. we would also have almost no plumbers - getting a leak fixed would cost 20 times as much as it does. shop workers... factory workers... electricians... doctors... all of these jobs are taken largely by very highly skilled foreigners, and, apart from the last one, all WOULD NOT BE DONE IF THEY WERENT HERE. and, with no exceptions, THEY ARE ALL ESSENTIAL TO THE RUNNING OF THE COUNTRY.

the second paragraph holds a better argument... but if the scots get their way for independance (which it would seem that they want to), they wont be able to... so your arguments are founded on contradictory nonsense.

i dont get you...

you seem to be in favour of "improving medical treatment" on something that will only affect those who will never be able to work, and many of whom wish to die, yet you say you are against the very source of funding for the millions in similar situations...

how desperately can you possibly want an economic crisis?
how desperately do you want to pay 90% of your income to taxation, even if it is spent on nothing but pensions?
whats wrong with you?!?

Er, plqx, look at the guy's post count. It's 3.

I don't think you'll get a response.

I think maybe, since there's nothing more to argue, I might lock the topic.

CC0, if you want it locked, then please lock!

No lockage yet, methinks, although try to keep debates free of screaming please.

Also, plqx, that was a bit of a delayed response wasn't it?
