My school is 5th best in the country[/rippingdownownargumentsforthesakeofshowingoff]. Well, I'm middle class anyway, mum's a teacher, her mum was a teacher, her mum was a teacher...you get the picture, and my dad works with oil, so I guess you could even class us as working class...

Yeah, but your dad could own Shell or something for all we know.

Nah, but he is self employed. But he lives in Oz anyway, my parents split up. He's filthy rich actually, but I don't speak to him or see him anymore...

He's filth rich and you don't speak to him?

Alright.

Here's a point: The students that are more intelligent are prone to being bullied by less intelligent children. Let's say that these intelligent ones are middle-class (there's a study that suggests this, let's leave that) and that the less clever ones are working/non-working class, yes?

This equally creates social rift. Generally, there is nothing that can be done. As society grows, prejudice and discrimination is simply going to happen. So, closing grammar schools or private schools will make little difference. True, in rare cases people may grow to like other people of intelligences and accept difference, but it's fairly rare due to the simple fact that, people will judge each other.

If you see someone in a burberry cap, tracksuit, etc, on a street corner, would you avoid them?

all evidence shows that separating the best students from the worst achieves an optimum effectiveness... so i dont really see the point in any argument against it.

have you (talking to all those opposed to grammar schools) ever considered the possibility that people might be poor because they are less intellectually capable, rather than the other way round? im guessing the answer is no. cos otherwise you wouldnt argue the case about poor people not getting the best education.

and would you deny special needs students what they need? cos if you wouldnt, why are you arguing that they should be denied it. cos the top end is special needs too, just like the bottom end.

and would you want to be taught at the sort of pace that, if you are lucky, might get you an F in every subject? cos if you argue against grammar schools, you argue against dividing by ability, so everyone has to go at the pace of the stupid.

which is about the most economically damaging thing possible, bar supporting the BNP of course...

I go to a Grammar School, my parents coached me!? My Mum and Dad went to Oldborough!

Look at the Ofsted report:

Quote:

At Oldborough, the percentage of students with learning difficulties and disabilities
is well above average, as is the percentage of students with statements of special
educational needs. Students' needs are mostly related to social, emotional and
behavioural or moderate learning difficulties. The majority of students have a White
British heritage and very few of them do not speak English as their first language.
Four local grammar schools receive most of the more able students in the area. Students
enter Oldborough with well below average standards of attainment, especially in
literacy and numeracy. The school has had three headteachers in four years. In the
last inspection report in November 2004, the school was designated as having serious
weaknesses.

And, what's worse, she got kicked out!

She then went to Senacre:

And, I didn't even get very well taught in my Primary School!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/educ...ml/886_2173.stm

I was even off for half a year because of My Illness, and, even then I was not allowed to do a full day at school!

But, now, I am in the best school in Kent!

MGS! (Not Metal Gear Solid ¬_¬)
