Under this legislation, a standard curriculum of education will be set up for all regions of Ostentia. The curriculum will be decided by the examination boards themselves (by way of a group commitee). However, small deviations will be allowable between exam boards. The following lists the subjects which will have to be studied (as mentioned above, subject content will be devised by the examination boads):

A basic education in the following is required for both OSACs (Ostetentian Secondary Achievement Certificate) and pre-OSACs:
Science
Ostentian Language
Maths
One other language
Information Technology (At OSAC level this can be any information technology based course, including Business Studies)
Personal, Social and Health Education

At OSAC level, optional subjects will also be selected in addition to the above. Ostentian Literature is compulsory only for more able students.

The following are required for pre-OSAC (in addition to the above)
Design Technology
Physical Education
Religeous Education
Music
Art
Drama
Geography
History

At OFC (Ostentian Foundation Certificate) and OHC (Ostentian Higher Certificate) levels it will be required to continue with PSHE education, however, like all the other levels, it results in no award.

Funding for this will be obtained from a slight tax raise to 35% BTR. Further budget spending will be allocated to other areas.

Ostentian Secondary Achievement Certificate :). I came up with it. We're still bashing an A level equivalent out...

I take it I don't actually have to decide the curriculum? I've just put this in to say how it will be done... I don't mean that we should form a focus group to decide it... for one thing it would be too long.

Well, we really should, shouldn't we?

After all, that's what it's there for.

And it wouldn't take too long.

*sets up Focus Group*

I mean... like WHAT part of the sciences and that sort of thing.

This would be impossible to do because I severely doubt that there are enough members here to cover every possible subject.

For example, what do we know about... Geology? How many peopl here have studied it at A Level and can tell us the sort of thing we need to add.

That's what I meant.

*is tempted to vote against*

I think the coursework/exam option will create a two tier system, with employers viewing a qualification earned through coursework to be sub-standard when compared with a qualification through exams - I'd suggest making it so that OSAC and [a level equivilant] qualifications must be made up of at least 25% examination. Also, I don't think IT needs to be a compulsory subject - IT skills can be developed in other subject areas.

PS: You need to come up with a name for the a level equivilent before this is put to a vote.
PPS: For OSAC, I would recommend adding Ostentian Literature to the list of compulsory subjects.

Well the combined thinking of AE and I thought up OFC (Ostentian Foundation Cert.) and OHC (Higher) as an A level equivalent. Dunno if we decided to use it though...

I have a question: what foreign languages would be studied? As our only knowledge of any foreign place is through HRH King Zog II.

And as it says "one other language", this would have to mean exilian... and it would have to be taught personally by HRH... (at least at first)

Erm...I guess we'll have to invest more money into research next term (assuming we get in), just to find more countries, just to learn their languages XD. I also think Culture should play a significant part in language courses...
