Strikes averted as Elections Loom

A nationwide teachers strike has been averted tonight after a combined effort by MPs from all parties saw legislation enacting a national curriculum pass swiftly through the commons. This will be of some comfort to the government, as elections are due to take place shortly, and the government is widely expected to face allegations that it has failed to deliver on manifesto promises.

Well you can't expect all that we said we'd do in the manifesto in four weeks. I think we've done damn well personally, certainly in setting up national standards...

There will be a small trust penalty for failing to fulfill manifesto commitments in the first term.

This penalty is doubled for each succesive term that manifesto commitments are unfulfilled.

So don't worry, you won't be hit too badly this election - but if you're re-elected, and are in the same position in a month's time, then you might have to start worrying.

You hardly made much effort to fulfil your manifesto - only 3 bills in the entire term
