I hereby propose that it become a criminal offence to obstruct an active emergency vehicle (defined as any ambulance, police car or fire engine with the siren on). With this bill, it will also become compulsory for such vehicles to put on their sirens whenever responding to an emergency, and a criminal offence for the driver to activate the siren in any other situation. It will also be a criminal offence for any other vehicle to use the same siren sound as used by the emergency services. It is also against the law for any non-emergency vehicles to carry blue flashing lights on the top of the vehicle. Discussion time is limited - this bill will be moved TOMORROW. |

4? (=massive backlog apparently) edit: someone might adopt it anyway... it would give pretty big boosts to health and law and order... and wouldnt drop transport by more than 1% |

You need to put something in about other vehicles using similar lights to ambulances, fire engines etc. |

I'm not sure why it would make it boost law & order - in fact, enforcing it could overstretch police forces and make law & order go down. Also, I doubt that its effect on the overall health of the country would be major. I don't think it will really affect transport either. On a side note, this is a bill, not a motion. *edits topic title* |

Of course... yes sorry... (about the bill thing) and, Mr cc0, i say to you this - since when have emergency services not mattered? police able to do their job properly = better law and order ambulances able to reach the patients = better health service fire engines able to reach fires = better environment, economy and general wellbeing of the country. at the moment, these vehicles are frequently held up in traffic jams, causing unnecessary deaths, criminals roaming free on the streets, and fires spreading much further and doing far more damage than if this bill were to take effect. And you say this is not urgent?!?! the transport thing - i just thought it might cause some small issues with a few minor delays due to people getting out of the way of the vehicles hence why i said that the effect would be so small...

... Bearing in mind that such laws are already likely to be enforced at a regional level - I'd question the urgency of such a bill, and its likely effects on public opinion. |

And I'd like to add that it was me who objected to the urgency - as CC0 said, the individual areas already have laws which prevent chaos, so our laws are to standardise things across the country. I would deem urgent as being preventing a national crisis - while this is important, it is not urgent. |
