The life and times of Matilda:

Matilda gave birth to Henry, who married Matilda. Matilda and Henry had a daughter, Matilda. Matilda became queen when she married Henry, who was the son of Henry, who was himself the son of Henry. While married to Henry, Matilda governed the lands that Matilda had left Henry in her will. After Henry and Henry had both died, Matilda tried to become the queen. At one point, it looked like Matilda would suceed, but her armies were defeated by Henry and Matilda, who was the new queen. In the end, Matilda didn't become the queen. Instead, Matilda remained the queen. However, Matilda's son was able to become king. His name was Henry.

How do you solve a problem like Matilda?

Conclusion: you can't, but it doesn't matter as you're doomed to failure anyway.
